Mark: And that camera doesn't lie.
The red light on the dome flickered steadily as the sound of tires crunching on gravel echoed from the driveway. Two police cruisers sped up the long winding path, their red and blue lights flashing bright against the estate's manicured hedges. They pulled to a stop right outside the marble patio area.
Police Officer: Nobody move! Hands where we can see them!
Mark: Officers, over here. My name is Mark Vance, I made the call.
Police Officer: Is everyone okay? Who is injured?
Victoria: I am, officer. She stomped on my hand while I was hanging off the edge of the pool.
Chloe: It was a complete mistake! I tripped over the ledge!
Mark: We have the entire incident recorded on our overhead security system, Officer. High-definition video with full audio capture.
Police Officer: Step away from the pool, ma'am. Put your hands behind your back.
Chloe: You can't arrest me! Do you know who I am?! My late husband was the founder of Vance Enterprises!
Police Officer: Ma'am, turn around and place your hands behind your back right now, or you will be charged with resisting arrest.
The officer stepped forward, grabbing Chloe's dripping wrists and securing them in steel handcuffs. Chloe let out a loud, pathetic sob as the cold metal clicked into place around her wrists.
Chloe: Mark! Tell them to stop! Call our legal team!
Mark: You're on your own, Chloe. I'm filing for an annulment on the grounds of fraud before the end of the day.
Victoria: And my legal team will be filing a formal motion to freeze all assets related to my father's estate immediately.
Police Officer: Let's go, ma'am. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
The officers led a weeping, soaking wet Chloe toward the back seat of the police cruiser. She looked back over her shoulder one last time at the grand mansion, the shimmering pool, and the dark camera mounted to the ceiling, realizing that her grand scheme had collapsed in a matter of minutes.
Victoria: Thank you, Mark. For doing the right thing.
Mark: You don't have to thank me, Victoria. It's what your father would have wanted. This house belongs to you now.
Victoria: Let me go get medical attention for my hand. Then we can sit down and fix all of this.
Mark: Take all the time you need. The evidence is safe, and justice is finally being served.
As the police car drove down the long estate driveway, carrying Chloe away, Victoria looked up at the sunny sky. For the first time in months, the weight on her chest was gone, replaced by the quiet peace of truth and justice prevail.
