Hannah: Sir! The paramedics said they are two minutes away! I brought the cold compresses!
Charles: Thank you, Hannah. Place it gently against his back. Gently...
Leo: It hurts, Daddy! It feels hot!
Charles: I know, sweetie. Keep holding Daddy's neck. Blow on it softly, Hannah.
Hannah held the cool cloth over Leo's red skin while Charles rocked the toddler back and forth on the white sofa, completely ignoring Victoria, who was pacing back and forth near the marble grand staircase.
Victoria: You're exaggerating this! It's just a mild red mark! Kids get hurt all the time!
Hannah: A mild mark?! He has second-degree burns because of your cruelty!
Victoria: Keep your mouth shut, Hannah! You're just a hired servant in this mansion!
Charles: Hannah is more of a family member than you ever were, Victoria! She actually cares if my son lives or dies!
Victoria: I cared for him! I took care of this entire estate while you were traveling for your business trips!
Charles: You took care of my credit cards! Every time I left town, you left Leo in his room for hours while you went shopping!
Victoria: That's a lie! I hired tutors and nannies!
Hannah: You fired the nannies because they refused to keep quiet about how you treated him!
Victoria glared at Hannah with pure hatred, her fingers digging into the fabric of her golden gown.
Victoria: You traitorous little rat. I should have replaced you months ago!
Charles: You won't be replacing anyone, Victoria. You're going to prison.
Outside, the loud, wailing sirens screeched to a halt right in front of the mansion's double doors. Red and blue lights flashed brightly against the tall glass windows of the foyer.
Paramedic: Dallas Emergency Medical Services! Where is the patient?!
Charles: In here! On the couch! My three-year-old son has severe burn wounds on his back and chest!
Two paramedics rushed into the living room carrying medical bags, followed closely by two armed police officers.
Paramedic: Let's see him, sir. Unwrap the cloth gently.
Officer Davis: Police department. Who called 911?
Charles: I did, Officer. My wife deliberately pressed a hot clothes iron against my toddler's skin!
Victoria: Officer! Do not listen to him! It was a terrible household accident! The child ran into the ironing board!
Paramedic: Sir, look at these skin patterns. This is a contact burn from a flat metal surface applied with heavy downward pressure.
Officer Davis: Is it an intentional injury, medic?
Paramedic: Absolutely. There are clear pressure lines here. A child bumping into an iron wouldn't cause a deep burn mark like this on both his chest and back simultaneously.
Officer Davis: Ma'am, step away from the couch and put your hands behind your back.
Victoria: What?! Are you insane?! You're arresting ME based on a medic's quick guess?!
Officer Davis: Ma'am, do not resist! Turn around right now!
Victoria: Charles! Do something! Tell them to stop! You can't let them take me in front of the staff!
Charles: I hope every neighbor on this street sees you in handcuffs, Victoria.
The police officer grabbed Victoria's wrists, pulling them firmly behind her back. A sharp, loud metallic click echoed through the living room as the handcuffs locked around her wrists.
Victoria: AHH! You're pinching my skin! Charles, call our corporate defense attorney right now!
Charles: I already called him five minutes ago, Victoria. I told him he's representing ME in our divorce proceedings.
Victoria: You traitor! You miserable coward!
The officers escorted the screaming, struggling woman out through the double doors, leaving the foyer silent except for the soft whimpering of little Leo as the paramedics treated his injuries.
