Evelyn: "You wouldn't dare call the police on me! Think of the scandal! Think of what the Dallas newspapers will say about the Vance family!"
Richard: "I don't give a damn about the newspapers, Evelyn. I care about my son."
Evelyn: "If you arrest me, I'll hire the best defense attorney in Texas! I'll take half of your estate in the divorce court!"
Richard: "Read our prenuptial agreement, Evelyn. Clause fourteen explicitly states that any act of domestic violence or child endangerment immediately voids all spousal support, property claims, and cash settlements."
Evelyn stopped moving. Her jaw dropped open in shock as she realized the massive trap she had walked straight into.
Evelyn: "You... you put that in the prenup?"
Richard: "My estate lawyers draft ironclad contracts, Evelyn. You will leave this marriage with nothing but the clothes on your back and a criminal record."
Outside the open front entrance, two black Dallas Police cruisers pulled up onto the gravel driveway, their blue and red lights flashing bright against the white mansion walls.
Evelyn: "No... no! You called them before you even walked inside?!"
Richard: "I called the police department the second I saw you holding Liam over that railing on my phone screen."
Four uniformed police officers strode rapidly through the massive white double doors, their heavy boots echoing through the foyer.
Police Officer 1: "Dallas PD! Mr. Vance?"
Richard: "Officer, that is Evelyn Vance. I have full high-definition video evidence of her committing aggravated child abuse and attempted murder against my infant son."
Evelyn: "Get away from me! Don't touch me! I am a member of the Vance family!"
Police Officer 1: "Ma'am, keep your hands where we can see them! Turn around and face the wall!"
The officers grabbed Evelyn by her wrists, forcing her hands behind her back as the metal handcuffs clicked loudly into place around her arms.
Evelyn: "Richard! Tell them to stop! You're destroying my life!"
Richard: "You destroyed your own life the second you laid a hand on my child."
Police Officer 2: "Ma'am, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
Evelyn: "Clara! You little bitch! You did this to me!"
Clara: "No, Mrs. Vance. You did this to yourself."
The officers hauled the screaming, cursing woman out through the massive white doors, her high heels dragging against the marble floor until the police cruiser doors slammed shut outside.
