Richard: Get your hands off me! I am the Chief Executive Officer of Vance Logistics! I own this venue!
Federal Marshal: You don't own anything anymore, Mr. Vance. As of six o'clock this morning, your board of directors voted unanimously to strip you of all executive power based on forensic evidence provided by your son.
Richard: Julian! Tell them to stop! You're destroying our family name!
Julian: You destroyed our family name twenty-five years ago when you started cheating on Mom and stealing from your partners, Dad. I'm just cleaning up the mess.
The marshals grabbed Richard's arms, twisting them behind his back and clicking the steel handcuffs into place right in front of his former business associates and investors.
Sarah: Let go of me! I'm the victim here! He stole my father's business first!
Federal Marshal: You can explain that to the federal judge, Miss Sterling. Move it!
Sarah screamed in rage, thrashing against the officers as her lace veil tore away, falling onto the floor alongside her ruined bouquet. The marshals escorted both sobbing, handcuffed criminals down the center aisle of the chapel, past rows of filming guests and flashing camera lights.
Margarethe stood up slowly from her pew, her dark blue dress immaculate, her posture tall and proud as she watched her ex-husband led away in chains.
Margarethe: Goodbye, Richard. Don't bother calling my lawyer for bail money.
Richard: Margarethe! Please! Help me!
The heavy doors at the back of the chapel slammed shut behind them, cutting off Richard's desperate pleas. Silence gradually settled back over the grand hall as Julian stepped down from the altar, walking directly over to his mother.
Julian: Are you okay, Mom?
Margarethe: I have never felt better in my entire life, Julian. You handled that like a true master.
Julian: He took advantage of you for twenty-five years. I promised myself when I turned eighteen that I would make sure he paid back every single thing he took from us.
Margarethe: What will happen to the company now?
Julian: The board elected me as the new Chairman of the Board half an hour ago. My first official act was liquidating Richard's private assets and setting up a full restitution fund for Arthur Sterling and the other victims of his corporate fraud.
Margarethe wrapped her arms around her son, holding him tightly as a single tear of relief slipped down her cheek.
Margarethe: Your father thought he was the smartest man in the room, but he never realized his own son was five steps ahead of him.
Julian: He forgot the most important rule of business, Mom—never underestimate the people you hurt.
