The Walk Down The Aisle

The grand chapel of the Vance Estate was packed with over three hundred high-society guests. Soft piano music drifted through the air as sunlight streamed through the tall stained-glass windows, illuminating the white rose garlands hanging along the mahogany pews.

Margarethe sat quietly in the front left pew, her blue dress smoothing over her knees as she forced a stiff, elegant smile for the photographers. Across the aisle sat Richard, looking pristine in his black tuxedo, his eyes gleaming with triumphant greed.

Richard: Lovely day for a wedding, isn't it, Margarethe?

Margarethe: It's certainly a day we will all remember, Richard.

Richard: You look nervous, my dear. Relax, Julian is marrying a wonderful girl. She's going to bring great value to our family business.

Margarethe: I'm sure she's brought plenty of value to you already.

Richard narrowed his eyes slightly, turning his head as the string quartet began to play the bridal march. The heavy oak doors at the back of the chapel swung open wide.

Sarah stood in the doorway, holding a bouquet of white orchids. Her lace veil covered her face, but her chin was held high as she glided down the long white carpet toward the altar. Julian stood waiting at the front, his hands folded neatly in front of his grey suit, his expression stoic and unreadable.

Sarah: You look handsome, Julian.

Julian: And you look remarkably confident, Sarah.

Sarah: Why wouldn't I be? Today is the happiest day of my life.

Julian reached out, taking her hand gently as she stepped onto the raised marble platform beside him. He turned to face the officiant—a tall man in dark robes holding a black leather binder.

Officiant: Welcome, family, friends, and distinguished guests. We are gathered here today to witness the union of Julian Vance and Sarah Sterling.

In the front row, Richard straightened his tie, leaning forward in his seat, eager for the exchange of vows where the financial agreements would be finalized.

Officiant: Before we proceed with the sacred vows, the groom has requested a brief moment to present a special gift to his bride and his father.

A quiet murmur rustled through the crowd of guests as Julian turned toward the congregation, stepping up to the altar microphone.

Julian: Thank you all for coming today. As many of you know, my father, Richard Vance, has always taught me the importance of family legacy and business partnerships.

Richard smiled broadly, nodding to the corporate executives seated nearby.

Julian: In fact, my father feels so strongly about partnerships that he decided to form a very intimate one with my bride earlier this afternoon in the dressing room upstairs.

The entire chapel went dead silent. The faint sound of gasps echoed from the back pews as Sarah's hand snapped away from Julian's grip.

Sarah: Julian! What are you talking about?! Have you lost your mind?!

Richard: Julian, sit down right now! Stop making a fool of yourself in front of our investors!

Julian: I'm not making a fool of myself, Dad. I'm just setting up the slideshow.
