The Secret Behind The Glass

Margarethe: What do you mean, not yet?! Julian, she's kissing your father!

Julian: Take a deep breath, Mom. Keep your voice down.

Margarethe: How can you be so calm?! Your bride is cheating on you with your own father in the dressing room!

Julian: I know exactly what Sarah is doing in that room, Mom. I've known for three weeks.

Margarethe: Three weeks? You knew about this for three weeks and you still walked into this venue today?

Margarethe grabbed her son's arm, pulling him further down the quiet marble hallway toward the grand staircase, far out of earshot from the bridal suite.

Julian: If I canceled the wedding three weeks ago, Richard would have liquidated the family trust fund and fled to the Cayman Islands with her.

Margarethe: The trust fund? Julian, what does our family money have to do with Sarah kissing Richard?

Julian: Sarah isn't just a nurse from the local clinic, Mom. Her real name is Sarah Sterling. She's the daughter of Dad's former business partner—the one he bankrupted fifteen years ago.

Margarethe gasped, her eyes widening in realization as her hands flew to her throat.

Margarethe: Arthur Sterling's daughter? But Arthur went to prison after the audit!

Julian: Arthur went to prison because Dad framed him for embezzlement to take full control of Sterling & Vance Logistics.

Margarethe: Oh, Lord... so Sarah targeted you to get close to your father?

Julian: She thought she was manipulating both of us. She targeted me at the charity gala, got me to propose in six months, and then started a secret affair with Dad behind my back.

Margarethe: She wanted to strip the family estate from the inside out...

Julian: Exactly. She convinced Dad to sign over his fifty-percent share of the logistics firm to her as a pre-nuptial gift, promising him she would leave me after the ceremony and run away with him to Europe.

Margarethe: And Richard actually fell for it?! He believed a twenty-four-year-old girl truly loved him?

Julian: Dad's arrogance has always been his biggest weakness, Mom. He thinks he's invincible.

Margarethe adjusted her dark blue dress, her hands still shaking violently as she looked back toward the white double doors at the end of the hall.

Margarethe: Julian, if you let this ceremony start, you'll be legally tied to that snake!

Julian: The marriage license on the table inside that suite isn't real, Mom. The officiant downstairs is a private investigator I hired two weeks ago.

Margarethe: A private investigator?

Julian: Yes. And right now, he has four federal marshals sitting in the front row of the chapel, waiting for my signal.

Margarethe: What are you planning to do, Julian?

Julian: I'm going to let Sarah and Dad walk down that aisle in front of three hundred guests, the entire board of directors, and every major news reporter in the state.

Margarethe: You're going to expose them publicly during the vows?

Julian: I'm going to strip them of every single cent, every asset, and every shred of dignity they have left. Now go downstairs, sit in the front row, and smile for the cameras.

Margarethe: Julian... please be careful. Your father is a dangerous man when he's cornered.

Julian: He's not dangerous anymore, Mom. He's just broke.
