Justice In The Aftermath

Her Groom Ruined Her Sister's Wedding Until Her Father Arrived

Six months later, the summer heat had given way to a crisp autumn breeze over Fort Worth. Inside a quiet, sunlit nursery room decorated with painted stars and soft yellow blankets, Mark stood near the wooden crib, gently rocking a small newborn baby boy.

The door opened, and Hannah stepped in carrying a warm mug of chamomile tea. She wore a simple white cardigan and jeans, her face glowing with a peace she hadn't known in years.

Hannah: "Is little David finally asleep?"

Mark: "Just went down. He has his father's eyes, Hannah. Exactly like David's."

Hannah: "I miss him every day... but seeing his son thrive makes it easier."

Mark: "How did the final probate hearing go today?"

Hannah: "The judge formally restored all thirty million dollars of the software patent valuation directly to David's estate. The trust is completely secured in little David's name now."

Mark: "And Arthur?"

Hannah: "He accepted a plea bargain to avoid the death penalty. Life imprisonment without parole at the federal penitentiary in Beaumont."

Mark took a slow breath, looking out the nursery window at the quiet neighborhood street.

Mark: "What about Chloe?"

Hannah: "She was sentenced to twelve years for her role in the wire fraud and corporate conspiracy. Her lawyer tried to ask for probation, but the judge cited her complete lack of remorse."

Mark: "She made her choices. She has to live with them."

Hannah sat down on the rocking chair beside the crib, looking up at Mark with deep gratitude.

Hannah: "You gave up your career for this, Mark. You sacrificed your reputation in the financial sector just to get justice for my husband."

Mark: "David was my brother, Hannah. Protecting his legacy and protecting his family was the only thing that mattered."

Hannah: "What are you going to do now? Your old firm won't stop calling to ask if you'll come back."

Mark: "I accepted a position as chief financial analyst for a non-profit foundation in Austin. We help young tech entrepreneurs protect their intellectual property from predatory corporations."

Hannah: "That sounds perfect for you. David would be so proud."

Mark: "We're going to be okay, Hannah. All of us."
