Lead Agent Miller strode up the lawn, flanked by two armed officers. He pulled a folded paper from his suit jacket, flashing a federal badge at Arthur Vance.
Agent Miller: "Arthur Vance? I have a federal warrant for your arrest."
Arthur: "On what charges?! This is a private family event! Get off my property!"
Agent Miller: "Corporate fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit murder, and interstate transport of stolen intellectual property."
Chloe: "Wait! No! You can't arrest my father! Today is my wedding day!"
Agent Miller: "Chloe Vance? We have a warrant for your arrest as well."
Chloe: "WHAT?! Me?! I didn't do anything! I'm the bride!"
Agent Miller: "You signed six fraudulent transfer documents transferring David Miller's patent rights to an off-shore account in Grand Cayman. We have your digital signature and IP address logged."
Chloe: "Dad! Do something! Tell them I didn't know!"
Arthur: "Keep your mouth shut, Chloe! Don't say another word without our attorneys!"
The officers moved in swiftly, clicking metal handcuffs around Arthur's wrists behind his back. Chloe began to scream hysterically as an officer pulled her arms back as well, pinning her dark blue satin dress against her body.
Chloe: "Mark! Help me! Please, tell them I'm innocent! I love you, Mark!"
Mark: "You don't love anyone, Chloe. You only love money and control."
Chloe: "You lied to me! You pretended you were going to marry me just to trap us!"
Mark: "I needed all of Arthur's co-conspirators in one place. You were kind enough to invite them all to your wedding."
Mark gestured to the front two rows of white chairs, where Arthur's corporate executives were already being surrounded by federal agents. The entire corrupt network that had targeted his brother was brought down in a single afternoon.
Hannah: "Mark... did you know all along?"
Mark: "I found David's encrypted journal three weeks ago, Hannah. He recorded every threat Arthur made against him. I had to play along until the federal prosecutor had enough evidence to issue the warrants."
Hannah: "I thought I was losing my mind... I thought my whole family hated me..."
Mark: "They aren't your family, Hannah. A real family doesn't destroy the people they're supposed to protect."
As the agents led Arthur and Chloe toward the waiting SUVs, Chloe turned her head back, her face streaked with mascara and tears. She glared at Hannah with a mixture of desperate anger and profound defeat.
Chloe: "You took everything from me, Hannah! Everything!"
Hannah: "You took yourself down, Chloe. You did this to yourself."
The doors of the police vehicles slammed shut, the red and blue lights flashing against the white wooden walls of the gazebo as the cars sped away into the Dallas sunshine.
