Grant: I didn't forge anything! My mother's accountant prepared those documents as part of our prenuptial agreement negotiations!
Evelyn: Grant, keep your mouth shut! Stop talking to him!
Marcus: No, let him keep talking. Every word coming out of his mouth is another five years in a federal prison facility.
Claire: The papers are in his briefcase in the home office downstairs, Dad. He forced me to look at them yesterday morning before he locked the door.
Marcus: Is that true, Grant? Are those forged documents sitting downstairs in your office right now?
Grant: You can't search my personal office without a search warrant! I know my constitutional rights!
Marcus: This mansion is owned entirely by Claire Vance. As her legal power of attorney while she is medically incapacitated, I give myself full permission to search every single room in this house.
Evelyn: She is not incapacitated! She is perfectly fine!
Marcus: She has a severe concussion, visible bodily bruising, and she has been denied medical care while six months pregnant! That is the literal definition of physical incapacitation caused by domestic abuse!
Claire sat up slowly on the bed, holding her stomach with one hand while using the other to hand her father a small set of brass keys.
Claire: Take these, Dad. These are the keys to the master safe inside the office desk.
Grant: Where did you get those? I hid those in my coat pocket!
Claire: You left your coat on the chair when you came in here to hit me on Tuesday night. I took them while you were screaming at your mother in the hallway.
Marcus: Smart girl. Just like your mother was.
Evelyn: Grant, grab the keys from him!
Grant lunged forward toward Marcus, his arm swinging wildly in a desperate attempt to grab the brass key ring out of the General's hand.
Marcus didn't even flinch. He stepped sideways, grabbed Grant's extended wrist, twisted it sharply behind his back, and slammed him down face-first onto the marble floor.
Grant: Argh! Stop! My arm! You're breaking my shoulder!
Evelyn: Let go of my son, you animal! Help! Somebody help us!
Marcus: Quiet down, Evelyn! Your son just attempted to physically assault a military officer in uniform. I am holding him under citizen's arrest until state troopers arrive on the property.
Claire: Dad, call Captain Miller from your precinct. He knows about Grant's past restrains in Virginia.
Marcus: Grant has a history of domestic violence charges?
Claire: Yes... His mother paid off his ex-fiancee three years ago to settle an assault lawsuit out of court. I found the court records in their legal files last week.
Marcus: You knew your son was an abusive predator, Evelyn, and you brought him into my daughter's life to steal her estate?
Evelyn: My son deserves a good life! He deserves a luxury home and a family line! Claire was supposed to be a quiet girl who listened to her elders!
Marcus: She is a soldier's daughter, Evelyn. She is never going to be your victim.
The distant sound of sirens began to echo down the long winding driveway of the luxury gated community.
Grant: Mom, do something! Don't let them take me to jail!
Evelyn: General Vance, please... We can settle this privately! We will leave the mansion today! We will never come back!
Marcus: You had your chance to leave peacefully three days ago before you put your hands on my child.
