The bright Texas sun poured over the sprawling grounds of the Dallas mansion, illuminating the tall white columns, the manicured green lawn, and the framed American flag artwork hanging on the pristine white wall inside the main foyer. But outside near the edge of the estate, a terrifying horror was unfolding in silence. Seven-year-old Lily sat bound in a cold metal bucket, her small wrist tied tightly with rough rope, her mouth covered with thick gray tape. She was suspended deep inside the stone water well, staring up into the shadows in absolute terror.
Evelyn: "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID!"
Lily: "Mmmph! Mmmph!"
Evelyn: "Quiet, you little brat! Nobody can hear you down here!"
Evelyn, the seventy-year-old matriarch of the Sterling family, stood over the rim of the well in her elegant burgundy dress. Her face was twisted with cold rage as her wrinkled hands grabbed the heavy wooden winch handle. The iron gears groaned as she turned the crank, lowering the metal bucket inch by inch into the dark, damp hole.
Evelyn: "Your mother ruined my son's life, and now you're going to vanish just like she did."
Lily: "Mmmph!"
Suddenly, fast running footsteps thundered across the soft grass. Carter Sterling, wearing a white dress shirt and dark trousers, came sprinting across the estate lawn at full speed. His eyes were wild with panic as he saw his mother cranking the wooden handle over the old stone well.
Carter: "EVELYN! STOP RIGHT NOW!"
Evelyn: "Carter?! Stay back! Don't come any closer!"
Carter: "GET AWAY FROM THAT WELL!"
Carter reached the well in seconds, grabbing the wooden winch handle alongside Evelyn and forcing it to a grinding halt. The iron rope creaked loudly under the sudden tension as the two locked eyes in a fierce struggle over the edge of the dark stone pit.
Evelyn: "Let go, Carter! You don't know what you're doing!"
Carter: "Who is down there?! WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
Evelyn: "It's for your own good! She's corrupting this entire house!"
Carter shoved Evelyn back, grabbing the heavy crank handle with both hands and pulling with all his strength. The iron gears reversed, bringing the metal bucket rising quickly out of the darkness until a small, crying girl appeared at the surface, shivering in fear. Carter reached down, lifting his daughter out of the bucket and pulling her into his arms before the evil truth tore his family apart forever.
