The Paperwork Before The Vows

He Cut His Wedding Cake And Found What She Hidden Inside

Clara: You can't lock the doors! You have no right to hold these people against their will!

David: I own this mansion, Clara, and a crime was just attempted on my property! Security, secure the main gates right now!

Security Guard: Yes, Mr. Vance! Double-locking the front foyer now!

Clara: David, listen to me! I was being blackmailed! Someone forced me to put those needles in the cake!

David: Stop lying! Every time you open your mouth, another pathetic excuse comes out!

Lily: She's lying, mister! She was laughing when she put them in! She said 'now he'll finally sign over the estate' under her breath!

David: She said what?!

David turned his furious gaze toward his wealthy father, Arthur Vance, who was standing quietly in the second row of shocked guests, holding a thick leather folder in his hands. Arthur’s face was stone-cold as he stepped past the panicked crowd and approached the front of the floral display.

Arthur: I knew something was wrong the moment she insisted on changing the inheritance clauses in your prenuptial agreement last night, David.

David: What prenuptial agreement, Dad? You told me the trust documents were finalized weeks ago!

Arthur: They were, until Clara came to my private study at midnight. She threatened to call off the wedding unless I added an emergency survival clause to the family trust.

Clara: Arthur, shut your mouth! That was a private legal consultation between family members!

Arthur: We are not family, Clara, and after what happened five minutes ago, you will never touch a single cent of the Vance estate.

David: What survival clause did she make you sign, Dad? Tell me the truth right now!

Arthur: She wanted a specific clause stating that if you suffered an unexpected medical emergency or death on the day of the wedding, the entire eighty-million-dollar land trust and this mansion would immediately transfer to her as your legal spouse, completely bypassing my secondary heirs.

David: You signed an eighty-million-dollar death clause right before the wedding?!

Clara: He didn't sign it yet! He refused to sign it until after the ceremony was completed!

Arthur: Exactly. And that is why you put those paralyzing drugs in the cake, isn't it, Clara? You knew David always takes the first massive bite of the wedding cake during the photo ceremony!

Clara: No! That's not true! I loved him!

David: You didn't love me! You loved my family's bank accounts, our corporate shares, and this property!

Clara: David, please! Look at me! We were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together in this mansion!

David: You wanted me dead before the sun even set on our wedding day so you could inherit eighty million dollars tax-free!

The entire room erupted into furious shouting. Family members on David's side began screaming at Clara's relatives, while Clara's mother tried to push her way toward the side exit doors, only to be blocked by two large security guards.

Clara's Mother: This is a misunderstanding! My daughter is an innocent girl from a respectable family!

David: Your daughter is a cold-blooded monster! And whoever supplied her with those clinical paralyzing drugs is going down with her!

Clara: You have no proof that I bought those drugs! You can't prove anything without a prescription receipt!

Lily: The paper is inside her silk makeup bag! I saw her drop a small white prescription box in the trash can in the bridal suite!
