The Invasion Upstairs

Julian: What did you just say?!

Brenda: Don't listen to her, Julian! She's making up stories to get a bigger tip!

Sarah: I'm not making anything up! I heard the locks clicking in the master study ten minutes ago while I was cleaning the hallway!

Julian turned on his heel and sprinted up the grand marble staircase, his heavy dress shoes making a loud echo across the estate.

Brenda: Julian, wait! Don't go up there!

Sarah grabbed the control joystick of Eleanor's wheelchair, carefully guiding her toward the elevator alcove near the living room.

Sarah: Mrs. Eleanor, stay right here near the emergency alarm button. I'm going up to help Mr. Vance.

Eleanor: Be careful, Sarah... Brenda is dangerous... she brought terrible people into this home...

Sarah: Don't worry, ma'am. Nobody is taking your home from you.

Sarah ran up the stairs, reaching the second-floor balcony just as Julian kicked open the mahogany double doors of his private office.

Inside, two men in leather jackets were rifling through a heavy steel filing cabinet, papers scattered across the oriental rug.

Julian: Get the hell out of my office! Hands where I can see them!

Man 1: Hey, boss, you didn't say the owner was gonna be home early!

Brenda: Just find the original power of attorney document! It's in a black binder!

Brenda rushed into the office behind Sarah, her eyes wild with desperate greed.

Julian: You broke into my personal safe?! That is burglary and industrial espionage!

Brenda: I'm taking what is rightfully mine, brother! You've been hoarding father's wealth for years while I lived on allowances!

Julian: You had a three-million-dollar trust fund that you gambled away in Vegas, Brenda!

Man 2: Hey, I found the black binder! It's right here!

The man in the leather jacket pulled a thick leather binder from the safe, holding it up toward Brenda.

Brenda: Give it to me! Quick!

Before the man could hand the binder over, Sarah lunged forward, grabbing a heavy brass paperweight from the side desk and slamming it hard onto the man's wrist.

Man 2: AGH! My hand!

The binder slipped from his fingers, falling onto the polished hardwood floor. Sarah immediately kicked it under the large mahogany desk, out of reach.

Brenda: You crazy maid! I'll destroy you for that!

Brenda charged at Sarah, grabbing her uniform collar, but Julian stepped in instantly, grabbing Brenda by both shoulders and shoving her back against the office wall.

Julian: Don't you touch her! Step away from my desk, all of you!

Man 1: Look, man, we just got hired to open the lock. We don't want no trouble with the cops.

Julian: Then get out of my house right now before I have my security team lock the gate doors!

The two men looked at each other in panic, dropping their tools and bolting out the office door, running down the hallway toward the back stairs.

Brenda: Cowards! Get back here! We were almost done!

Julian: It's over, Brenda. You're caught red-handed inside a private residence committing armed burglary.

Brenda: Armed?! Nobody had a gun, Julian! Stop exaggerating!

Sarah: They used heavy steel crowbars to force open the safe lock, Mr. Vance. That counts as breaking and entering with dangerous tools under Texas state law.

Brenda glared at Sarah, her chest heaving as she realized her plan was rapidly falling apart.

Brenda: You think you're so smart, don't you? A little girl wiping tables for a living!

Sarah: I may wipe tables for a living, Miss Brenda, but at least I don't rob my own mother.
