The Financial Trap

Arthur turned his back on the Sterling family, holding Clara securely as he walked toward the grand entrance where his executive assistant, Marcus, was standing with two paramedics.

Arthur: Marcus, get the paramedics to work on Clara’s arm immediately in the back of the SUV. Then call the legal team.

Marcus: The legal team is already on standby, Mr. Vance. The injunctions are prepped.

Clara: Dad... what about my things? My papers are in the bride suite upstairs...

Arthur: Marcus has already sent two guards to retrieve everything that belongs to you. You are never setting foot back in this place.

Paramedic: Miss Vance, we need to apply pressure to this laceration right away. Can you step into the vehicle?

Clara: Yes... thank you...

Arthur helped Clara sit inside the luxurious interior of the black SUV as the paramedics began bandaging her wounds. Once she was safe, Arthur turned back toward the entrance of the mansion, where Harrison Sterling was hurriedly walking down the marble steps after him.

Julian's Father: Vance! Stop right there! We had a legal prenuptial agreement signed by both families yesterday!

Arthur: A prenuptial agreement that included a non-disclosure clause and a transfer of Clara’s inheritance shares into your son’s holding company, correct?

Julian's Father: It was a standard business merger clause to protect both of our corporate entities!

Arthur: It was fraud, Harrison. You forced a distressed young woman to sign documents under emotional coercion while your son held her phone hostage in the dressing room.

Julian's Father: You have no proof of coercion! She signed it willingly in front of a public notary!

Arthur: The notary was your brother-in-law, Harrison. Do you really think my private investigators didn't film the entire interaction inside that suite?

Harrison’s face went pale. He staggered back a step, looking over his shoulder toward the mansion doors where his wife was standing in shock.

Julian's Father: You filmed inside our private bridal suite?

Arthur: My security team placed hidden audio and video feeds in every room my daughter occupied today. I saw Julian push her against that table fifteen minutes before I walked through those front doors.

Julian's Father: You... you knew?

Arthur: I wanted to see how far your family would go. I wanted to see if anyone in that room had a single shred of humanity left in them before I destroyed your entire life's work.

Julian's Mother: You monster! You set us up!

Arthur: No, Evelyn. You set yourselves up when you treated my daughter like a piece of property you could beat and silence.

Arthur reached into his suit jacket, pulling out a thick manila folder and tossing it onto the hood of Harrison’s luxury sedan parked in the driveway.

Julian's Father: What is this?

Arthur: That is an emergency court order freezing every corporate account associated with Sterling Enterprises. As of three minutes ago, your credit lines are canceled, your construction projects in Houston are halted, and the foreclosure process on this mansion has officially begun.

Julian's Father: You can't freeze our corporate accounts! We have payroll due on Friday for eight hundred workers!

Arthur: Then I suggest you start selling your wife's jewelry, Harrison. Because you won't get another dollar from any bank in North America once my press release goes live at five o'clock.

Julian: Dad! Help me up! My chest hurts!

Julian stumbled out onto the front porch, holding his side and coughing violently as he glared at Arthur with pure hatred.

Julian: You kicked me in front of everyone! I’m filing battery charges against you, old man!

Arthur: Go ahead, Julian. File the charges. Let’s get a judge to review the footage of you assaulting my daughter two minutes prior. I’m sure a Dallas jury will love seeing a grown man throw his bride into a glass table on her wedding day.
