Victoria stood in the center of the foyer, completely disgraced and defeated.
She realized that no amount of smooth talking could save her status now.
She grabbed her designer purse off the glass table with a bitter glare.
“You will regret this decision, David!” Victoria screamed before storming out.
She slammed the heavy mahogany entrance doors with a loud, echoey bang.
The sudden loud noise shook the crystal chandelier hanging high above them.
Silence quickly returned to the sunlit foyer as her heels faded away outside.
Elena wiped a stray tear from her cheek and looked at David gratefully.
“Thank you for looking at the security footage, sir,” Elena said quietly.
“I only ever wanted to keep little Leo safe and happy here.”
David reached out and gently patted Elena’s shoulder in warm appreciation.
“You have been a blessing to this home since the day you started,” David said.
“Your job is completely secure, and I am giving you a raise today.”
Little Leo crawled over across the shiny marble floor toward Elena’s feet.
He reached up his tiny arms, wanting his favorite nanny to hold him.
Elena knelt down on the floor and scooped the little boy into her arms.
Leo giggled softly, resting his small head right against her shoulder.
David looked at them with a sense of immense relief in his chest.
He knew he had narrowly avoided bringing a cruel woman into his life.
The bright daylight streamed through the tall foyer windows onto the scene.
The American flag mounted on the wall stood proud in the background.
“We are going to make sure this house stays filled with real love,” David said.
Elena smiled warmly, holding the happy toddler securely in her arms.
Peace and safety had finally been restored to the wealthy suburban home.
