The heavy suite door suddenly swung open with a loud thud against the wall. Richard stepped inside the room, his face dark with rage. He held a leather binder filled with legal documents in his right hand.
Richard: Victoria, this madness ends right now! You need to come outside and tell the press this was a misunderstanding!
Victoria: Get out of this room, Richard! You are done telling me what to do!
Richard: I built this estate up! Without my management, your trust fund would have lost millions in bad real estate deals!
Victoria: You built it on lies! You hid my own sister from me for years just to protect your precious salary!
Richard: She has no legal right to anything now! The statute of limitations on the inheritance has passed!
Victoria stood up from the couch, her height making her look commanding despite her ruined dress. She stepped directly between Richard and her sister.
Victoria: I don't care about statutes of limitations, Richard. I own sixty percent of the main holding company outright.
Richard: What are you talking about?
Victoria: My father added a clause to the family trust. If any board member acts with criminal deceit, the principal heir can strip them of all voting power instantly.
Richard: You wouldn't dare do that to your husband!
Victoria: You stopped being my husband the second you lied to me about Lily!
Victoria picked up her phone from the small table and dialed a quick number on speakerphone. The line rang twice before a deep, calm voice answered the call.
Lawyer: Good evening, Victoria. Is everything alright at the party?
Victoria: David, I need you to draft immediate divorce papers and freeze Richard's access to all corporate accounts right now.
Richard: Victoria, stop this! Are you out of your mind?!
Lawyer: I understand, Victoria. On what legal grounds are we filing?
Victoria: Fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and hiding my legal co-heir. My sister Lily is standing right beside me.
The line went silent for a brief second as the family divorce lawyer processed the heavy news.
Lawyer: Understood. I will file an emergency injunction with the Dallas county court first thing tomorrow morning. His access will be revoked within the hour.
Richard: You can't do this to me! I made you who you are!
Victoria: You made me a fool for seven years! Security! Get him out of my building!
Two large security guards stepped into the suite from the hallway. They grabbed Richard firmly by both arms before he could step toward Victoria.
Richard: Victoria! Don't do this! You're ruining our life!
Victoria: You ruined your own life the day you took my sister away from me.
The guards pulled Richard backward out of the suite, his loud protests fading away down the grand hallway. Victoria took a deep breath, feeling a massive weight lift off her shoulders for the first time in years.
