The Scar On Her Wrist

A Rich Woman Slapped A Maid Then Saw Her Scar

The quiet in the ballroom grew deeper as surrounding guests watched the strange scene unfold. Victoria felt her knees grow weak as she stared into the maid's bright green eyes. The nickname hit her like a physical blow against her chest.

Victoria: Don't call me Tori! Only one person ever called me that!

Lily: Because I am that person. I'm Lily. Your little sister.

Victoria's husband, Richard, pushed through the ring of wealthy onlookers with a firm frown. He wore an expensive dark tuxedo and looked irritated by the public spectacle. He stepped between Victoria and the maid, placing his arm around his wife's waist.

Richard: Victoria, darling, what is going on here? Why is this servant making a scene?

Victoria: Richard... she has the mark. She has Lily's birthmark.

Richard: Don't be ridiculous! Your sister passed away twenty years ago. This girl is clearly an impostor looking for a payout from our trust fund.

Lily: I don't want your money, sir. I just wanted to see my sister on her birthday.

Richard: Guard! Escort this woman off the property immediately!

Victoria: Wait! Don't touch her!

Richard: Victoria, you're embarrassing us in front of the entire Dallas high-society board!

Victoria: I don't care about the board right now! Lily, tell me something only my sister would know.

The young maid took a small step closer, her eyes fixed entirely on Victoria's crying face.

Lily: You have a silver music box hidden in your closet. It plays 'You Are My Sunshine.' Our mother gave it to you before the accident.

Victoria covered her mouth with both hands as fresh tears spilled over her eyelids. The silver music box was a secret she had kept tucked away in her safe for decades. She had never told a single living soul about it, not even her husband of seven years.

Victoria: Oh my God... Lily? Is it really you?

Lily: It's me, Tori. I'm right here.

Victoria: What have I done... I slapped you... I hit my own sister...

Lily: It's okay. You didn't know it was me.

Victoria: It's not okay! I treated you like garbage!

Richard: Victoria, pull yourself together! People are recording this on their phones!

Victoria: Shut up, Richard! My sister is standing in front of me!

Victoria moved past her husband and pulled Lily into a desperate, tight embrace. The heavy silver tray clattered loudly against the floor as Lily wrapped her arms around her sister. Both women cried open tears in front of the silent, shocked crowd. Years of deep pain and sudden relief washed through Victoria's heart all at once.

Victoria: Where have you been all these years? Why didn't you come find me sooner?

Lily: I tried, Tori. But every time I got close, someone kept pushing me away.

Victoria: Who kept pushing you away?

Lily slowly raised her head from Victoria's shoulder and turned her tear-filled eyes toward Richard.

Lily: Your husband did.

Victoria's eyes widened in total shock as she pulled back from the hug. She turned to look at her husband's pale face.

Victoria: What are you talking about? Richard?

Richard: She's lying, Victoria! I've never seen this woman before in my life!

Lily: You saw me three years ago in your corporate office, Mr. Vance. I came to ask for help finding my sister.
