Victoria stood near the top under the big American flag display, her yellow dress shining in the harsh midday light. She adjusted her designer sunglasses and looked down at Sarah and David with complete disgust. Her two legal advisers stood right behind her, holding leather briefcases filled with forged corporate agreements and altered child care records. Victoria believed she owned every block of Dallas, including the local law enforcement officers who managed courthouse security on the front lawn. She slowly walked down three steps, tapping her golden cane lightly against the polished stone.
Victoria: David Sterling. I thought you left the prosecutor office months ago after your little crusade failed.
David: I left to clean up trash like you without state red tape holding me back, Victoria.
Victoria: Watch your tongue. I hold a signed emergency court order from Judge Miller himself. Sarah is unfit, and her custody rights are completely revoked as of this morning.
Sarah: Judge Miller is on your corporate board! He took thousands of dollars in fake campaign donations from your real estate firm last year!
Victoria: Accusations without proof mean nothing in a court of law, my dear girl. Now step aside before I have the security guards haul you off to the county jail.
David stepped forward, his leather shoes stepping directly on one of the scattered papers floating near his feet. He bent down gracefully, picked up the white paper, and scanned the blue ink signature at the bottom. It was an old bank ledger showing a direct wire transfer from Victoria private offshore trust to an offshore account owned by Judge Miller relative. David held the paper high in the air, his eyes blazing with pure anger as he glared at the woman in yellow.
David: This is not an opinion, Victoria. This is a federal wire transfer receipt showing bribery of a presiding judicial officer.
Victoria: Where did you get that document? That is private company property!
David: It came out of the file you tried to steal from Sarah home last night when your hired men broke into her apartment!
Sarah stepped up next to David, her voice shaking but full of newfound strength as she wiped the wet tears from her pale cheeks. She saw the sudden flicker of panic cross Victoria cold face for the very first time. The bright yellow dress no longer made Victoria look powerful; it made her look like a target standing in open sunlight. Victoria quickly whispered something to her lead lawyer, who took a small step backward toward the heavy brass doors of the building.
Victoria: That paper is a fake! My lawyers will have it thrown out of court before the end of the hour!
David: You have used your wealth to bully working families for ten years, but today your luck ends right here on these stairs.
