David walked out onto the front porch with the official legal papers in his hand.
Eleanor was standing by her car driver door, speaking nervously into her cell phone.
David: Mom, hang up the phone and step over here right now.
Eleanor ended the call quickly and walked back toward the front steps with a scowl.
Eleanor: Have you come to your senses and apologized for shoving me?
David: Why does this legal trust say dad left the estate to me?
Eleanor stopped dead in her tracks as her face went completely pale in the sunlight.
Eleanor: That paper is old and completely out of date, David!
David: It has the official court stamp right here on the front page, Mom.
Eleanor: I used that money to keep this house from going into foreclosure!
David shook his head in deep disappointment as he stepped off the wooden porch.
David: You lied to me for seven years about my father's final wishes.
Eleanor: I did what I had to do to protect our family standing!
Sarah stepped out onto the porch and stood silently behind her husband for support.
Sarah: You came into our home and attacked me to hide your dishonesty.
Eleanor: Stay out of this, Sarah! This is between me and my son!
David: Sarah is my family now, and she exposed what you were doing.
Eleanor crossed her arms tightly across her chest as her voice turned sharp again.
Eleanor: You cannot prove anything in a real court of law, David!
David: I am calling our lawyer right now to review these trust funds.
Eleanor took a step back toward her vehicle with panic visible in her eyes.
Eleanor: If you take me to court, it will destroy this entire family!
David: You destroyed this family the moment you lied to your own son.
David turned his back on his mother and guided Sarah back into the warm house.
