The winter wind blew hard across the suburban neighborhood in Dallas Texas.
Sarah pulled her trench coat tight around her shoulders as she stepped out of her car.
She had driven over to return a forgotten diaper bag for her little boy Leo.
Her ex-husband Mark had custody of Leo for the weekend at his mansion.
Mark was currently at the grocery store getting supplies for dinner.
His new wife Victoria was supposed to be watching the toddler inside.
Sarah walked up the icy front driveway with a warm smile on her face.
Suddenly a high sound cut right through the cold afternoon air.
It sounded like a child screaming in deep panic and agony.
Sarah stopped in her tracks and dropped her keys into the snow.
Her motherly instinct kicked in immediately as she recognized the voice.
It was her two-year-old son Leo weeping loudly.
Sarah ran past the garage toward the large backyard patio.
Her boots crunched heavily against the deep white snowdrifts.
When she turned the corner of the house her heart completely stopped.
Little Leo was sitting in the cold snow near the sliding glass door.
He was not wearing his heavy winter coat or his sweater.
The small boy was shivering wildly as tears froze on his red cheeks.
He was banging his small red hands against the heavy locked glass.
Leo: PLEASE LET ME IN, MOMMY, PLEASE!
Sarah screamed out in terror and dropped to her knees beside him.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his trembling little body.
Sarah: WHAT HAPPENED?!
Leo: SHE TOOK MY SHIRT OFF, THREW ME OUTSIDE, AND LOCKED THE DOOR!
Sarah pulled her own wool scarf off and wrapped it around Leo.
She looked up at the sliding glass door with total fury.
Victoria was standing right inside the warm luxury living room.
She wore a white faux-fur coat and held a glass of red wine.
Victoria smirked through the clear glass and did not move a muscle.
Sarah pounded her fist against the thick glass door demanding answers.
Victoria simply turned around and walked casually into the kitchen.
Just then the heavy sound of a luxury SUV door slammed shut.
Mark had just returned home and was walking into the yard.
