Evelyn backed away until her shoulders hit the wooden front door frame.
She looked around the entry hall as if searching for an escape path.
Evelyn: Please delete that video footage right now Mark!
Mark: I will never delete evidence of you hurting my little child.
Evelyn: If you show that video to anyone, my reputation will be ruined!
Mark: Your reputation is the absolute least of my concerns right now.
Mark walked over to the telephone table in the wide main hallway.
He picked up his cell phone and dialed a three-digit emergency number.
Evelyn: Who are you calling on the phone right now Mark?
Mark: I am calling the local police department to report child abuse.
Evelyn rushed across the wooden floor to grab his arm wildly.
Evelyn: You cannot call the police on your own legal wife Mark!
Mark pushed her away firmly and held the phone to his ear.
Mark: Yes, I need an officer sent to 412 Elm Street immediately.
He gave the emergency operator all the details of what occurred.
Evelyn sank down onto the bottom staircase step and began to cry.
Evelyn: You are going to throw away our entire marriage over this?
Mark: You threw away our marriage the second you locked that trunk.
Lily walked out from the living room holding her stuffed teddy bear.
Mark immediately knelt down and wrapped his warm arm around her shoulders.
Mark: Go pack your favorite small toys into your backpack sweetheart.
Lily: Are we going to stay at grandma's house tonight daddy?
Mark: Yes, we are going to grandma's safe house right after this.
Lily ran upstairs quickly to pack her small colorful bedroom items.
Mark stood watch near the front door until siren lights flashed outside.
Red and blue lights reflected against the damp glass windows brightly.
Two police officers walked quickly up the front porch concrete steps.
Mark opened the front door and invited the officers inside the house.
Officer Davis: Sir, we received a call about a child endangerment situation.
Mark: Yes officer, my wife locked my daughter in that trunk.
