Sarah stood motionless near the top of the stairs for several long seconds.
Tears began to stream rapidly down her pale face as reality set in.
She looked broken as she realized Mark was completely serious about his demand.
Sarah: Please, Mark, let us sit down and talk about the legal papers.
Mark: What legal papers are you talking about right now?
Sarah: The paperwork for her grandmothers inheritance trust fund.
Mark felt a cold chill run through his body at those sudden words.
His late mother had set up a large trust fund for Lilly's future college fees.
The money was meant to be unlocked only when Lilly turned eighteen years old.
Mark: What did you do to Lilly's trust fund money?
Sarah: I needed access to those funds to settle some debts.
Mark: That trust fund belongs solely to your daughter for her education!
Sarah: The bank manager said I needed your signature to transfer it.
Mark finally understood the true motive behind Sarah's cruel mind game.
She wanted to make Lilly believe that Mark was leaving the family forever.
Then Sarah could force Mark into a fast divorce and take control of the estate.
She had planned to steal her own child's financial future for her personal gain.
Mark: You tried to turn my daughter against me just for money!
Sarah: I was desperate because of the debt from my failed business!
Mark: You chose greed over the happiness of your own little girl!
Sarah: I was going to pay every dollar back later on!
Mark: I do not believe a single word coming out of your mouth.
Lilly stepped off her bed and walked slowly toward her father's side.
She wrapped her small arms around Mark's leg and held on tightly.
She looked up at Sarah with big sad eyes full of confusion.
Lilly: Why did you tell me those bad things, Mommy?
Sarah: Lilly, sweetie, Mommy was just very confused and scared.
Lilly: You made me feel like nobody loved me anymore.
Sarah: I love you more than anything in the world!
Mark: If you loved her, you would never hurt her like this.
Sarah took a slow step forward to reach for Lilly's hand.
Lilly pulled back quickly and hid her face behind Mark's tall knee.
The strong bond between mother and daughter was completely broken in that moment.
Sarah dropped her hands to her sides and let out a sob.
Sarah: You have turned my own daughter against me now, Mark.
Mark: You did this entirely to yourself with your own lies.
Sarah: Where am I supposed to go right now in this state?
Mark: You can stay at a hotel while I call my family lawyer.
Sarah: Do not bring lawyers into our personal family business!
Mark: You left me with no other choice to protect our daughter.
He pointed once more down the long hallway toward the front door downstairs.
Sarah knew there was no way to change Mark's firm decision today.
