Richard's face drained of all color the moment Evelyn mentioned the hidden security cameras in the corners.
He had forgotten that the foyer had high-definition security lenses installed to protect the high-value art pieces.
Eleanor stiffened instantly, glancing up at the tiny black camera domes mounted high upon the carved ceiling.
"There is no need to involve the authorities in a minor family dispute," Eleanor stammered nervously.
"No, we are going to look at that video footage right now!" Evelyn demanded loudly for everyone to hear.
Several prominent city officials and legal prosecutors in the crowd began whispering among themselves in deep suspicion.
A well-known divorce lawyer stepped out from the audience, offering his immediate legal assistance to Evelyn on the spot.
"I will personally ensure those video tapes are secured for the court, Evelyn," the respected attorney offered firmly.
Richard pulled himself up against a white marble pillar, looking around at his silent, judging business partners.
The illusion of the perfect billionaire family was crumbling into pieces right before the entire city's elite society.
Evelyn walked back over to her daughter, lifting Lily gently into her strong protective arms.
"Are you hurt, baby?" Evelyn whispered softly, carefully checking Lily's hands and face for any glass scratches.
"I'm okay, Mommy, but he bumped into me real hard on purpose," Lily whimpered, pointing right at Richard.
The surrounding guests began expressing their outrage loud enough for Eleanor and Richard to hear every single word.
"How horrific to treat a young child that way just for money," a prominent woman whispered loudly behind her fan.
"The Sterlings have gone way too far this time," a city councilman agreed with a disgusted expression.
Richard tried to slip away toward the back hallway, but the lead security guard politely blocked his path.
"Sir, the police have already been dispatched by the mansion staff," the guard informed Richard firmly.
