The Father Returns

Julian: What the hell is going on? Who authorized those doors to be opened?

Julian's Father: Security! Where is the private security detail I hired for this ballroom?

Standing in the center of the doorway was Arthur Vance. He wore a tailored black suit, his chest heaving with silent, terrifying rage as his cold eyes swept past the stunned guests and landed directly on his daughter bleeding on the floor.

Clara: Dad...

Arthur: Get away from my daughter.

Julian: Listen here, old man! You can't just barge into a private Sterling family gala!

Arthur: I said... get away from her!

Arthur didn't hesitate. His long, authoritative strides echoed like thunder against the marble tile as he closed the distance between them. Julian barely had time to turn his head before Arthur lunged forward, delivering a brutal, high-impact kick straight into Julian’s chest.

The sudden impact sounded like a whip crack. Julian was lifted completely off his feet, flying backward across the floor and crashing hard onto his back beside Clara, gasping frantically for air in front of the horrified crowd.

Julian's Mother: MY SON! Oh my God! Someone call the police! Arrest this lunatic!

Arthur: Touch me and I will buy the security firm that hired you before the ambulance even arrives for your son!

Arthur dropped down to his knees beside Clara, his face softening with sheer heartbreak as he saw the deep cuts along her arms and the blue bruises forming on her cheeks.

Arthur: Clara... look at me, baby. I’m right here.

Clara: Dad... he shoved me into the glass centerpiece because I confronted him about the trust fund papers...

Arthur: Don't talk, sweetheart. Just save your breath. Let me look at your arm.

Clara: His mother told everyone to stay back... they were going to hide me in the back room until the press left...

Arthur: Nobody is touching you ever again. I promise you that on your mother’s memory.

Arthur carefully lifted Clara into his arms, wrapping his suit jacket around her shivering shoulders. He stood up slowly, glaring down at Julian, who was groaning on the floor while holding his cracked ribs.

Julian's Father: You just committed aggravated assault in front of two hundred witnesses, Vance! You’re going to spend the rest of your life in federal prison!

Arthur: Is that right, Harrison? You think your family owns the courts in New York?

Julian's Father: I own the judges, the district attorney, and half the city council! You just ruined your life over a dramatic girl!

Arthur: You don't own a single thing in this city anymore, Harrison. You just haven't realized it yet.

Julian's Mother: Get out of our ballroom! Take your pathetic, broken daughter and get off our estate!

Arthur: Your estate? Look around you, Evelyn. Who do you think holds the primary mortgage deed on this entire property?

Evelyn froze, her hand dropping instantly from her pearl necklace as her face turned completely pale.

Julian's Father: What are you talking about? The commercial bank holds our mortgage!

Arthur: And my holding company bought out eighty percent of that bank’s debt portfolio at eight o'clock this morning.

The entire grand ballroom fell completely silent. The guests, who had been whispering moments ago, stood frozen as the realization washed over the room.

Arthur: You thought you were marrying your son into my family so he could secretly clear your family's failed real estate venture. You thought my daughter was an easy target who wouldn't speak up.

Julian: Dad... what is he talking about? Tell him he’s lying!

Julian's Father: Shut up, Julian! Vance... we can discuss this privately in the office. There's no need for this public spectacle.

Arthur: The discussion ended the moment your son put his hands on my daughter. Now watch what happens when you try to ruin a Vance.
