Laura struggled against the officer hold as her expensive burgundy silk gown tore slightly.
Laura: You cannot arrest me, I am the lady of this entire house!
Officer: You have the right to remain silent, anything you say will be used.
Arthur watched silently as his wife was led out through the large double front doors.
The heavy doors clicked shut behind them, leaving the grand foyer in total quiet peace.
Leo held tightly to his father coat, still breathing softly after the terrible scare.
Arthur: Elena, I owe you an apology for not seeing her true nature sooner.
Elena: You were busy protecting the business, but I watched her carefully every day.
Arthur: Show me what else you discovered while working inside this house recently.
Elena led Arthur toward the private study located on the main floor back hallway.
She opened the bottom drawer of the mahogany desk using a small silver key.
Inside the drawer sat a stack of forged legal papers and fake trust fund documents.
Elena: She was planning to file for full custody if anything happened to you.
Arthur: She wanted complete access to my family estate and my son inheritance.
Arthur slumped into the heavy leather chair, burying his face in his cold hands.
Arthur: I almost brought a monster into my son life without even realizing it.
Leo: Dad, Elena stayed with me every time stepmother screamed at me before.
Arthur looked at his young son and then at the faithful housemaid standing nearby.
Arthur: You saved my son life and his future, Elena, I am deeply grateful.
Elena: I made a promise to his mother that I would always guard him.
Elena: A mother love does not end just because she is no longer here.
Arthur wiped his eyes quickly and stood up straight with a renewed sense of purpose.
Arthur: We need to contact my family lawyer immediately to lock all financial accounts.
Arthur: Laura will never step foot inside this house or near Leo ever again.
The house phone rang loudly on the desk, cutting through the calm evening air.
