Mark walked through the heavy front doors of his Dallas mansion after a long day at the office.
The quiet house smelled like fresh flowers and polished wood.
He placed his leather briefcase on the dark oak table near the entrance.
His young wife Sarah was standing up on the high balcony overlooking the main entrance floor.
She looked pale and her hands were gripping the white railing tightly.
Down below on the marble floor sat the family maid Ellen.
Ellen was holding Mark's tiny infant daughter close to her chest.
The baby was crying softly into Ellen's clean apron.
Mark stopped right in his tracks and looked between the two women.
The air in the room felt freezing cold despite the Texas heat outside.
Ellen looked up at Mark with tears streaming down her red cheeks.
Her hands were trembling as she sheltered the small infant.
Mark felt a deep sense of panic rising in his chest.
He took two quick steps toward the grand staircase.
Mark: What is going on in here right now?
Ellen: Sir! She almost dropped your daughter off the high railing!
Sarah: That is a complete lie!
Sarah backed away from the balcony edge with wide terrified eyes.
Her back hit the cold hallway wall behind her.
Mark stared up at his wife with growing anger in his heart.
He had trusted Sarah with everything he owned in this world.
He had signed the trust fund paperwork just last week for their future.
Now his sweet baby girl was shivering on the floor below.
Mark marched up the grand stairs with heavy firm footsteps.
Every step sounded like thunder inside the giant foyer.
Sarah held her hands up to protect herself from his dark stare.
Mark: Explain yourself right this second Sarah!
Sarah: It was an accident Mark I swear it!
Mark: You put my little girl in severe danger!
Sarah: The railing was slippery and I lost my footing!
Ellen called out from the bottom floor with a shaking voice.
Ellen: She held the baby over the edge on purpose sir!
Mark reached the top floor and stood right in front of Sarah.
His jaw was clenched tight as he pointed toward the front exit.
Mark: Get out of my house before I call the police!
