A Dangerous Shadow Inside House

The high white walls of the grand mansion always felt too quiet after sunset. David sat in his large boardroom office downtown, checking his watch while signing the last set of estate papers. His late wife had left behind a massive trust fund for their baby daughter, Lily. It was a fortune meant to secure the little girl's future forever, managed carefully by top legal advisors and a reliable divorce lawyer who had handled the family affairs for years.

Back at the house, the atmosphere inside the nursery was turning freezing cold. The room had custom ivory cribs, soft plush toys, and a large American flag hanging neatly on the wall. Victoria walked into the room wearing her long black designer gown. Her eyes were hard and full of anger as she stared down into the crib where five-month-old Lily lay sleeping peacefully.

Victoria had married into the family only eight months ago. She loved the luxury car collection, the private jet trips, and the prestige of living in the most exclusive neighborhood in the city. But she hated the baby. Lily was the sole heir to the vast estate, which meant Victoria could never fully control the family fortune as long as the child was in the picture.

The silence broke when Victoria reached into the crib and roughly pulled the infant upward. Lily woke up instantly and began to scream in complete terror. The sound echoed off the polished marble floors of the hallway. Victoria did not soothe her. Instead, her grip tightened around the delicate baby clothes as she shook the helpless child with cold malice.

Victoria: Stop crying! Nobody is coming to save you!

Down the hall, Elena was folding clean baby linen in the laundry area. She was the maid who had worked for David’s family for nearly five years. Elena loved baby Lily as if she were her own blood. Hearing those sharp, terrified screams, Elena dropped the towels and ran straight toward the nursery as fast as her feet could carry her.

She pushed the nursery door open and stopped dead in her tracks. Her heart pounded against her ribs when she saw Victoria holding the terrified infant aggressively. The sight made Elena's blood run cold, but terror quickly transformed into burning outrage. Without hesitation, the brave maid stepped right into the space between the cruel woman and the child.

Elena: Get away from her! You will never touch this child again!

Elena snatched the screaming baby from Victoria’s grasp and held Lily tight against her own chest. She wrapped her arms securely around the small child, backing away toward the wall to shield her from further harm. Victoria straightened her black dress, her face twisting into a furious sneer as she took a threating step closer to the maid.

Victoria: Know your place, house girl! You will keep your mouth shut if you want to keep your job!

Elena: Fire me if you want, but you will kill this child over my dead body!

At that exact second, heavy footsteps thundered up the grand staircase outside. David had returned home early from his business meeting, feeling an unusual urge to check on his daughter. He threw open the heavy wooden doors of the nursery, his face turning pale as the awful sound of his baby daughter’s crying filled his ears.
