The Trap Is Set

When My Stepmother Harmed My Son, Justice Was Served

The next morning, bright daylight filled the spacious formal living room.

Eleanor walked down the grand staircase wearing an elegant grey suit jacket.

She held a small leather handbag securely under her left arm.

She expected to find the house empty, assuming Mark had fled with his family.

Instead, she saw Mark and Evelyn standing near the marble fireplace.

Two police officers in full uniform were standing right beside them.

Eleanor stopped abruptly at the base of the grand wooden staircase.

Her face flushed with sudden anger as she glared at the officers.

Eleanor: What is the meaning of this intrusion in my home?

Mark: This is no longer your home, Eleanor, and never was.

Eleanor stepped forward confidently, holding her head high in the air.

Eleanor: Officers, I want this man arrested for pushing me yesterday.

Eleanor: He assaulted me right beside my own swimming pool.

The lead officer, Officer Davis, pulled out a small black notepad.

He looked at Eleanor with a calm and neutral expression on his face.

Officer Davis: We are actually here regarding a different matter, ma'am.

Eleanor: What matter could possibly be more important than assault?

Mark stepped forward and placed a thick manila folder on the coffee table.

He opened the folder to reveal several printed legal reports and photos.

Mark: We know about the forged signature on my father's will.

Eleanor's eyes widened slightly, but she quickly recovered her cold tone.

Eleanor: That is a ridiculous accusation made by a bitter stepson.

Mark: A certified forensic expert verified the forgery late last night.

Mark: The original deed leaves ninety percent of the estate to me.

Eleanor gripped her handbag tighter, her knuckles turning completely white.

She looked toward the front entrance doors, calculating her options quickly.

Evelyn: You thought you could scare us away by hurting Tommy.

Evelyn: But your cruel actions only made us investigate your secrets.

Eleanor sneered openly at Evelyn, dropping her polite facade completely.

Eleanor: That little boy is weak, just like his mother is.

Eleanor: Neither of you belongs in a noble family like this one.

Officer Davis stepped forward, placing a hand near his duty belt.

Officer Davis: Ma'am, we also have security footage from yesterday.

Eleanor: What security footage are you talking about?

Mark pointed upward toward the decorative trim near the patio doors.

A small high-definition security camera was mounted discreetly in the corner.

Mark: I installed new outdoor cameras two weeks ago for home security.

Mark: The camera recorded you pushing Tommy directly into the water.

Eleanor gasped sharply, stepping backward toward the wooden staircase railing.

Her face turned completely pale as the truth finally caught up to her.

The video clearly showed her deliberate action and her calm reaction afterward.

It disproved every lie she had told about Tommy slipping on wet tiles.

Officer Davis: Eleanor Vance, you are under arrest for child endangerment.

Officer Davis: You are also being investigated for grand estate fraud.

The second officer stepped behind Eleanor and pulled out silver handcuffs.

Eleanor tried to pull her arms away, raising her voice in wild protest.

Eleanor: You cannot put your hands on me like this!

Officer Davis: Turn around and place your hands behind your back now.
