Evelyn sat inside a small coffee shop near the bustling downtown center.
She held a hot cup of black coffee in her trembling hands.
A tall elderly man in a dark blue suit walked toward her table.
He carried a heavy leather briefcase under his firm left arm.
Lawyer: Hello Evelyn my name is Marcus Vance and I represented Arthur.
Evelyn: Please sit down and tell me what is happening Mr. Vance.
Marcus sat down across from her and placed the briefcase on table.
He unlocked the heavy brass latches with a loud clicking sound.
Marcus: Arthur knew his son Julian was dangerous and very greedy.
Evelyn: Julian lied to everyone about the entire estate and money.
Marcus: Before Arthur passed away he left everything directly to your daughter Lily.
Evelyn stared at the old lawyer with complete disbelief in her eyes.
Evelyn: He gave the whole estate and trust fund to my little girl?
Marcus: Yes but he named you as the sole legal trustee of it.
Marcus pulled out a thick stack of legal papers from his bag.
He placed them neatly right in front of Evelyn on the wooden table.
Marcus: Julian knew about this will and tried to destroy every copy.
Evelyn: That is why he shoved the glass display case earlier today!
Marcus: He wanted to make sure nobody ever found the original document.
Evelyn felt a powerful new surge of hope fill her weary heart.
She was no longer the helpless victim they could easily push around.
She had the legal right to protect her child and take everything.
Evelyn: What do we need to do to stop him right now?
Marcus: We are going to court tomorrow morning for an emergency hearing.
Evelyn looked down at the official legal documents signed by Arthur.
The signature was clear and bold right at the bottom line.
She knew Julian would do anything to keep his stolen fortune safe.
He would hire the most expensive divorce lawyers in the whole city.
Evelyn: Will this be enough to win full custody of Lily too?
Marcus: With his violent behavior today we have a very strong case.
Evelyn smiled for the very first time in a very long time.
She was ready to face her ruthless husband in front of everyone.
She picked up a pen and signed the legal agreement form quickly.
Evelyn: Let us take back what belongs to my daughter tomorrow.
