Mark walked out of the vault into the main hallway.
The front door opened slowly as a tall man entered.
Thomas stood in the doorway holding a small leather jacket.
He looked identical to Mark except for a few grey hairs.
The two brothers stared at each other in total silence.
Mark took three quick steps forward and hugged his brother.
Thomas wrapped his arms tightly around Mark's shoulders.
Thomas: I thought I would never get to meet you.
Mark: You don't have to stay hidden anymore, Thomas.
Thomas: Is the legal threat really over now?
Mark: Our grandfather passed away five full years ago.
Mark: His estate lawyers have no power over us now.
Eleanor walked out of the back parlor into the hallway.
She saw her two sons standing together under the light.
Tears of joy flooded down her soft wrinkled cheeks.
Eleanor: My two boys are finally in one room.
Thomas walked over and gave his mother a long embrace.
Thomas: Thank you for keeping me safe all those years.
Eleanor: I am sorry it took so long to fix.
Lily ran up and grabbed Thomas's right hand tightly.
Lily: Are you the man who knocked on the wall?
Thomas: Yes, I came by earlier to leave a letter.
Thomas: I knocked on the outer steel plate by mistake.
Mark smiled as he looked at his whole family reunited.
The dark vault room would no longer hold secret fear.
They spent the rest of the evening sitting in the parlor.
Mark and Thomas shared stories about their childhood years.
The family trust fund was legally settled the following month.
They tore down the rest of the fake plaster wall.
The vault door remained open as a symbol of freedom.
No more secrets would ever divide their home again.
