Daisy: Change, sir?
Ethan: You are no longer a junior maid in this estate, Daisy.
Daisy: Sir? I don't understand...
Ethan: As of this morning, you are promoted to Head Estate Manager. You will oversee all household staff, schedules, and security protocols.
Daisy gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in utter surprise.
Daisy: Estate Manager?! But Mr. Ethan, I'm only twenty-four years old!
Ethan: Age doesn't matter to me, Daisy. Integrity does. You proved today that you care about this family more than anyone else in this city.
Daisy: The salary for that position... I don't even know what to say...
Ethan: Your salary will be quadrupled, and you will have full health coverage and a private apartment on the north wing of the estate.
Eleanor: Accept it, Daisy, please. I would feel so much safer knowing you are in charge of this house.
Tears gathered in Daisy's eyes as she looked down at Eleanor, giving a soft, emotional nod.
Daisy: Thank you, Mrs. Eleanor... Thank you, Mr. Ethan. I promise I will take care of this home with everything I have.
Ethan: I know you will. Now, let's get my mother back to her room so she can rest comfortably.
Daisy: I'll reattach her main medical unit right now and make sure her pulse monitor is fully charged.
Ethan: Good. I have a few phone calls to make to my legal team and the wedding vendors.
Ethan pulled his smartphone from his tuxedo pocket and dialed his corporate attorney, walking toward the large glass windows.
Arthur: Good morning, Ethan. Are you ready for the wedding ceremony?
Ethan: Arthur, cancel the wedding. And I need you to draft a restraining order against Victoria and Chloe Sterling immediately.
Arthur: What happened, Ethan?! Is everything alright?
Ethan: Victoria tried to assault my mother in the ballroom. The police just took her away in handcuffs.
Arthur: Good grief! Are you and Eleanor alright?
Ethan: Mother is stable, thanks to our maid Daisy. But I want Victoria prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Arthur: I will personally head to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department right now to review the arrest report and file our protection order.
Ethan: I also want a full audit of the two million dollar investment funds Victoria provided for the merger.
Arthur: Are you suspecting financial foul play as well?
Ethan: She mentioned something about her brother being a judge. I want to make sure every dollar in that transaction is completely clean.
Arthur: I am on it, Ethan. I'll have my forensic accounting team inspect the wire transfers within the hour.
Ethan: Thanks, Arthur. Keep me updated on everything.
Ethan hung up the phone and turned back toward his mother and Daisy, feeling a heavy weight lifted off his shoulders.
Though the wedding had ended in disaster, he knew his home was finally protected from the toxic people who had tried to invade it.
