David rushed across the marble floor with quick steps toward his weeping housekeeper.
His face grew pale as he saw his infant daughter wrapped tight in Clara's arms.
David: Clara, what on earth is happening in this home right now?
Clara: Sir! She intentionally pushed the baby's carrier right off the balcony railing!
David: What did you just say to me right now, Clara?
Clara: I had to dive across the marble floor to catch Lily in time!
David turned his head slowly toward the grand staircase with disbelieving eyes.
Sarah rushed hurried down the white marble steps past the large American flag.
Her expensive high heels clicked loudly against the polished floor with rapid speed.
Sarah: David, darling, please do not listen to this crazy woman's lies!
Sarah: I was adjusting the cradle blanket when my hands suddenly slipped!
Sarah: It was a terrifying mistake, but thank goodness the child is safe!
David: Your hands slipped near a waist-high protective stone wall, Sarah?
Sarah: The railing was smooth, and I lost my grip for one second!
David's breath caught in his throat as raw anger began to boil over.
He stepped directly into Sarah's path in front of the grand white staircase.
His voice shook with powerful emotion that echoed through the vast open room.
David: You expect me to believe a cradle simply fell over that wall?
Sarah: Why would I ever want to put our daughter in danger?
Clara: Because she wanted the entire inheritance without any secondary heirs named!
Sarah whirled around toward Clara with eyes full of pure and fiery malice.
Sarah: Shut your mouth right now before I have you fired instantly!
David: You will not speak another word to her in my house, Sarah!
David stood tall between his new wife and his loyal family housekeeper.
He looked at Sarah as if seeing her true character for the first time.
The warm and loving woman he thought he married was nowhere to be seen.
In her place stood a cold stranger driven by greed and ruthless ambition.
David reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his personal cellular phone.
He unlocked the screen with steady fingers while keeping his eyes on Sarah.
