The two security guards moved quickly across the polished hallway floor toward them.
Clara placed herself firmly in front of Leo once again without hesitation.
Clara: Do not touch this boy!
Vanessa: He stole private documents from Mr. Vance's desk!
Clara: That is a complete lie and you know it!
Vanessa: Search his pockets right now, guards!
One guard reached forward to grab Leo's dark blue suit jacket cuff.
Clara slapped the guard's hand away with a loud sharp smack sound.
Clara: Keep your hands off a child!
Guard: Move out of the way, girl, or you will be arrested.
Clara: Call the police then! Let them investigate what is in that folder!
Vanessa's face went completely pale for a fraction of a second.
She quickly recovered her composure and raised her voice to draw guests back.
Vanessa: This waitress is helping a thief steal corporate secrets!
Several curious guests began gathering at the mouth of the private hallway.
Vanessa grabbed Leo's shoulder roughly and snatched the velvet pouch out.
She opened the pouch frantically, expecting to find the flash drive inside.
Her face twisted in shock as only the brass key fell into her palm.
Vanessa: Where is the drive? Where did you put it?
Leo: You will never get my mother's estate!
Vanessa: You little brat!
Vanessa raised her hand in sheer frustration, threatening to strike the air near him.
Clara stepped forward instantly and pushed Vanessa's arm away with firm force.
Clara: That is enough!
Vanessa: Guards, throw this waitress out the back doors right now!
The two guards grabbed Clara by both of her arms firmly.
Clara struggled against their tight grip, keeping her eyes fixed on Leo.
Clara: Run to your father, Leo! Run now!
Leo turned and ran toward the grand ballroom as fast as he could.
Vanessa chased after him down the hallway with her sequined dress rustling loud.
Clara twisted her wrists and pulled free from the surprised guard's loose hold.
She sprinted right behind Vanessa, determined not to let the boy stand alone.
The chase spilled straight into the high ceiling center of the grand ballroom.
