Mr. Vance pulled a thick stack of official legal paper from his bag.
"Mrs. Victoria, the eviction notice was signed by a judge at noon."
"You have exactly thirty minutes to collect your personal belongings now."
Victoria shook her head wildly, her neat hair falling out of place.
"This is a conspiracy against my legal rights!" she yelled out.
"I built this family's reputation from the ground up for ten years!"
"You spent our family's money on failed offshore investments," Arthur said.
"We found the bank statements hidden in the primary office safe."
Victoria gasped and backed toward the edge of the glass staircase again.
"You went into my personal office without my explicit permission!"
"It is not your office anymore," Arthur replied with a quiet confidence.
"It belongs to the estate trustee, which is officially my wife Clara."
Clara stepped forward, holding her husband's arm for physical support.
"I do not want your money, Victoria," Clara spoke with calm strength.
"I only wanted the truth about my father's final days here."
"Your father was a weak man!" Victoria spat out with total bitterness.
"He gave everything away because he felt guilty about his past!"
"He gave his share to me!" Clara countered, her voice growing stronger.
"He left it in a trust for his grandchild, who is right here."
Victoria looked down at Clara's round stomach with obvious disdain.
"That child will never see a single dime of this family wealth!"
"The court has already frozen all the primary bank accounts," Vance said.
"You no longer have access to the credit lines or the cars."
Victoria looked around the massive hall as if seeking an escape route.
The white marble walls seemed to close in on her from all sides.
Two uniformed police officers stepped through the open front double doors.
"Mrs. Victoria Vance?" the lead officer asked in a stern loud voice.
"We have a warrant for questioning regarding financial fraud charges."
Victoria backed up against the clear glass handrail of the staircase.
"This is ridiculous! Get those men out of my sight right now!"
"Please come with us peacefully, ma'am," the officer said calmly.
Arthur guided Clara away from the glass steps toward the front sitting room.
"It is over now, Victoria," Arthur said without turning back around.
"You cannot hurt anyone in this house ever again."
Victoria shouted curses as the two officers escorted her toward the door.
Her heels dragged against the polished floor she had forced Clara to clean.
