Richard noticed the scattered white sheets of paper spread across the polished dark floorboards.
He leaned down and picked up three pages that had landed right near Clara's outstretched hand.
Victoria tried to snatch the papers out of his hands before he could read them.
Victoria: Give those to me, Uncle Richard, those are private business documents!
Richard: Stand back, Victoria, let me see what caused this fierce fight upstairs!
Richard adjusted his reading glasses and scanned the top lines of the legal document carefully.
His face turned pale as his eyes moved across the signature section at the bottom.
Richard: This is a certified copy of your father's original last will and testament.
Eleanor: What does it say, Richard? Tell us what is written on that paper!
Richard: It clearly states that Clara is the sole executor of the entire trust fund.
Victoria stepped back into the shadows near the doorway as the family stared at her.
Victoria: That paper is fake, Clara hired someone to forge father's signature on it!
Richard: This document carries the official seal of the state court clerk from last year.
Clara struggled to sit up slightly while Eleanor supported her lower back with a pillow.
Clara: She knew about this paper for months and tried to destroy the original copy.
Victoria: You are lying to everyone just to take my home away from me!
Richard: You pushed your own sister down the stairs to cover up your fraud, Victoria!
Victoria: I was protecting our family legacy from her terrible financial choices!
Eleanor: You were protecting your own greed and luxury lifestyle at our expense, Victoria!
The sirens of the approaching police car echoed faintly from down the long private driveway.
Victoria turned around quickly and ran toward the back exit doors leading to the garden.
Richard moved fast and blocked the double glass doors before she could turn the handle.
Richard: You are not going anywhere until the police get here to investigate this scene.
Victoria: You cannot keep me locked inside my own house like a common criminal!
Richard: This house does not belong to you, and it never did, Victoria!
