Clara tumbled backward down the steep wooden steps with a series of loud crashing sounds.
The papers from the manila envelope flew into the air like white birds across the stairwell.
Victoria stood frozen at the top landing as she watched her sister fall out of control.
Clara hit the lower landing hard before sliding violently onto the cold marble floor below.
Her body came to a complete stop on her stomach right under the massive crystal chandelier.
The entire ground floor became dead quiet for a long terrifying moment as dust settled down.
Clara lay motionless on the floor with her eyes wide open in sheer confusion and pain.
She panted heavily while trying to catch her breath on the cold smooth stone surface.
Up at the top of the stairs, Victoria clutched her own throat in absolute terror and shock.
Her breathing became fast and ragged as the reality of her actions hit her minds.
Tears began to stream down Victoria's face as she stared at her motionless sister below.
Victoria: Oh no, what have I just done right now?
She backed away from the stair railing as heavy footsteps echoed from the east wing.
Their uncle Richard ran into the main hallway with his wife Eleanor right behind him.
Both of them stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Clara lying on the marble floor.
Richard: Clara! Someone call an ambulance right this second!
Eleanor dropped to her knees right beside Clara and gently touched her trembling shoulder.
Eleanor: Stay still, sweet girl, do not try to move your body right now!
Victoria rushed down the side hallway franticly as more family members began to appear below.
She waved her hands wildly in the air as she hurried toward the lower landing area.
Victoria: I swear I did not mean for this terrible thing to happen!
Richard: Victoria, what on earth did you just do to your own sister?
Victoria: She rushed toward me suddenly, and I only pushed her away from me!
Eleanor: She is hurt badly, Victoria, look at what you caused here tonight!
Victoria: It was an accident, I swear it was an total accident!
Clara tried to speak, but her voice was only a weak whisper on the floor.
She slowly pointed one trembling finger toward the loose legal papers scattered everywhere on marble.
