Julian walked into the master sitting room, where a warm fire crackled softly in the brick hearth.
Toby sat on the oversized velvet sofa wrapped in a dry woolen blanket, holding a warm mug of hot chocolate with both hands.
Sitting beside him was Nadia, her wet uniform replaced by a clean navy housecoat that Mrs. Gable had brought down.
Toby: Daddy! The police took the mean lady away in the car with the loud sirens, right?
Julian: She is gone forever, buddy. She will never step foot on this estate again as long as we live.
Julian dropped to both knees on the soft rug, wrapping his arms around his son and pulling him tight against his chest.
Toby: Nadia jumped right into the water, Dad! She didn't even wait for a life vest!
Julian: I know, sweetheart. Nadia is the bravest woman I have ever known.
Julian buried his face into Toby's dark curls, tears of pure, overwhelming gratitude spilling onto his black tuxedo shirt.
He lifted his head, looking up at Nadia with eyes full of humble, unyielding reverence.
Julian: Nadia... Come sit beside me, please.
Nadia leaned forward on the sofa, her hands resting gently on Toby's woolen blanket.
Nadia: Yes, Mr. Sterling?
Julian: Starting today, Nadia, your position as a domestic housekeeper on this estate is officially terminated.
Nadia's eyes widened in sudden, quiet shock, her hands trembling slightly against the fabric.
Nadia: Mr. Sterling... Are you letting me go? I have nowhere else to live in Dallas, sir...
Julian: Letting you go? Nadia, you saved my entire world today. I am appointing you as the Chief Executive Trustee of the Clara Sterling Children's Foundation.
Nadia: Executive Trustee...? Mr. Sterling, that foundation controls thirty million dollars!
Julian: And there is nobody on this earth I trust more to watch over my late wife's legacy.
Toby: Nadia is staying with us forever, Dad?!
Julian: Forever, champion. She is family now, and this is her home as long as she lives.
Tears of pure, beautiful relief welled in Nadia's eyes as Toby reached out and threw his small arms around her neck.
Nadia: Thank you, Mr. Sterling... Clara is smiling down on us from heaven today.
Julian: She is, Nadia. And tomorrow morning, we finish what Clara started.
Julian stood up, smoothing the front of his tuxedo jacket as his posture straightened into command.
Julian: Tomorrow at eight AM, we convene the emergency shareholder assembly at Sterling Global Logistics.
Nadia: What will happen to the board directors who supported Arthur Vance, sir?
Julian: Every single director who signed off on those fraudulent pension transfers will be removed before lunch.
Toby: Can I come to the big glass office with you tomorrow, Dad?
Julian: You are going to sit right in the chairman's chair, buddy. Because that company belongs to you.
Toby giggled happily, taking another sip of his hot cocoa as the firelight danced across the peaceful room.
The darkness that had suffocated their lives for six months had finally broken, banished by courage, truth, and a father's sacred love.
