The Secret In The Safe

The Stepmother Thought She Inherited Everything Until The Real Will Appeared

Mark led Sarah and Victoria into their father's large dark wood office.

The room smelled like old leather books and sweet pipe tobacco.

A large framed oil painting hung quietly on the main back wall.

Sarah walked over to the painting and pulled it gently to the side.

A small steel safe sat hidden deep inside the cutout wall space.

Victoria stood near the door with her arms crossed tightly against her chest.

Victoria: That safe has been locked and empty for over five years.

Sarah: Hand me the small brass key from my purse, Mark.

Mark reached into Sarah's bag and pulled out the shiny key.

He inserted the key into the lock and turned it very carefully.

A heavy metallic click echoed loudly through the silent study room.

Victoria gasped sharply and stepped backward toward the open hallway door.

Mark pulled the heavy steel door open and reached deep inside.

He pulled out a thick blue envelope sealed with red wax.

Mark: This is our father's personal handwriting on the cover.

Victoria: That paper is old and completely invalid under Texas law!

Sarah: Read what it says out loud right now, Mark.

Mark broke the red wax seal and opened the folded white paper.

His eyes scanned the long lines of legal writing very quickly.

Mark: This is a updated trust document signed two months ago.

Victoria: He never signed any new documents without my approval!

Mark: He left the mansion and the family business to Sarah.

Victoria's face turned completely red with sudden boiling rage.

She rushed across the room and tried to grab the paper.

Mark held the document high above her head out of reach.

Mark: Stand back right now, Victoria!

Victoria: You two planned this whole thing behind my back!

Sarah: Dad knew you were spending his company funds illegally, Victoria.

Victoria: That money was mine to use for our lifestyle!

Mark: The trust specifies that Sarah receives full control today.

Victoria turned around and stormed out into the grand hallway.

Her heavy heels clicked loudly against the white marble floor tiles.

Sarah and Mark followed her quickly out into the main entrance.

Sarah: You need to sign the transfer papers peacefully, Victoria.

Victoria: I will never give up this estate to you!

Victoria stood at the very top of the grand marble stairs.

She turned around with a frantic look on her pale face.

Victoria: You ruined my life the day you were born!

Sarah: Please do not make this harder than it needs to be.

Sarah took two careful steps up the wide bottom staircase stairs.

Victoria screamed in anger and pointed her finger down at Sarah.
