The Fall On The Marble

The Stepmother Pushed My Little Girl Off The Grand Staircase

David Vance adjusted his tie as he stood near the bottom of the grand staircase inside his estate.

The bright morning light filtered through the high stained glass windows, filling the room with warm colors.

He was preparing for an important board meeting that could secure the future of his family business.

His seven-year-old daughter, Lily, was running happily around the upper hallway in her favorite pink party dress.

Her laughter echoed down the marble hallway, bringing a soft smile to David's tired face.

Everything seemed peaceful in the grand home that morning.

Then, a sharp scream shattered the calm atmosphere of the house.

David looked up toward the balcony in complete shock.

Lily was falling over the decorative wooden railing of the second floor balcony.

Standing right at the top of the stairs was Victoria, wearing a bright purple silk designer dress.

Victoria watched the young girl fall without moving a single muscle to help her.

David did not hesitate for even a fraction of a second.

He sprinted across the polished floor with incredible speed.

His leather dress shoes slid slightly against the smooth marble floor as he lunged forward.

He reached out his arms just in time as Lily tumbled through the air.

David caught his little girl securely against his chest right before she hit the hard ground.

The impact knocked the breath straight out of his lungs.

He collapsed onto his knees on the cold floor, holding his daughter tightly in his arms.

Heavy gasps filled the vast open space of the foyer.

Lily buried her face into her father's crisp blue suit jacket and began to sob uncontrollably.

David felt his heart beating wildly against his chest as he checked her for any injuries.

He smoothed down her messy hair with a trembling hand.

David: Are you okay, baby girl?

Lily: Daddy, she pushed me!

David froze completely as those words sank into his mind.

David: What did you say, Lily?

Lily: Victoria pushed me from behind!

A sudden wave of intense anger washed over David's whole body.

He looked back up toward the second level landing with sharp eyes.

Victoria was still standing near the railing, her face pale as a sheet.

She clutched her expensive pearl necklace with a shaking hand.

David stood up quickly while keeping Lily safe in his arms.

His jaw was clenched tight with furious determination.

He turned around and began marching up the grand staircase toward his new wife.

His heavy footsteps echoed loudly through the silent mansion.

Victoria took a quick step backward as David approached her position.

Victoria: David, please let me explain what happened up here!

David: Stay right where you are!

David set Lily down carefully behind his back to shield her.

He pointed a firm finger directly at Victoria's face.

David: How dare you lay a hand on my daughter in my own home!

Victoria: It was an accident, I promise you!

David: She told me you pushed her!

Victoria: She is just a little kid, she got confused and slipped!

David: Get out of my sight before I destroy you!

Victoria flinched backward against the wall near the large American flag display.

The tension in the hallway was thick enough to cut with a knife.

David stood like a tall wall between his small child and the woman he had trusted.

He knew in that exact moment that his life was about to change forever.
