The Legal Reckoning

The Stepmother Pushed His Daughter Off The Foyer Balcony

Three days after the terrifying incident, the Vance mansion was filled with legal advisors and police investigators. Charles Vance, Arthur's primary estate lawyer, sat at the mahogany desk in the private study, reviewing bank records and police reports.

Charles: "Arthur, the police investigation has uncovered far more than we initially suspected."

Arthur: "What else did she do, Charles?"

Charles: "Detectives searched Victoria's personal computer. Over the past two months, she made dozens of search queries regarding fatal falls, balcony heights, and toddler injury rates."

Arthur slammed his fist onto the wooden desk, his knuckles turning white with anger.

Arthur: "She was calculating how to end my daughter's life for months?!"

Charles: "Yes. Furthermore, she forged your signature on a life insurance policy three weeks ago, taking out a four-million-dollar policy on Lily."

Arthur: "That disgusting creature... she planned every single detail!"

Charles: "This evidence solidifies the charge of premeditated attempted murder. The district attorney has already denied her bail request. She will remain in county jail until trial."

Sarah entered the study holding a tray of warm tea, placing it down gently on the glass coffee table.

Sarah: "Excuse me, Mr. Vance, I just put Lily down for her afternoon nap."

Arthur: "Thank you, Sarah. Please, sit down with us."

Sarah: "Oh, I shouldn't interrupt your legal meeting, sir."

Arthur: "You aren't interrupting. Charles, I want to officially amend my family trust fund right now. Add Sarah as a permanent beneficiary with a full million-dollar grant."

Sarah gasped, her hands shaking as she looked at Arthur in total shock.

Sarah: "Mr. Vance... no! I can't accept that! That is way too much money!"

Arthur: "Sarah, you dived onto a hard marble floor without a second thought to catch my child. You saved her life while taking the physical blow yourself. No amount of money can ever truly repay that, but you will never have to worry about financial hardship again."

Charles: "I will draft the trust agreement immediately, Arthur. It is fully deserved."

Tears gathered in Sarah's eyes as she looked from Charles to Arthur, wiping her cheeks with a napkin.

Sarah: "Thank you, Mr. Vance... Thank you so much. I promise to always take care of Lily."

Arthur: "I know you will, Sarah. You've already proven your loyalty."

Charles gathered his legal files into his briefcase and stood up, adjusting his dark tie.

Charles: "Regarding the divorce and prenup, Victoria's felony attempt against your family completely voids all financial claims. She won't receive a single dollar of alimony or settlement money."

Arthur: "Good. Make sure her defense team knows we will fight every single appeal she tries to file."

Charles: "Rest easy, Arthur. Justice will be served, and she will spend decades behind bars."
