The bell above the shop door chimed softly as Leo stepped inside the quiet room.
The gentle smell of fresh roses and bright lilies filled the warm indoor air.
The woman turned around slowly from behind the wooden counter with a polite smile.
Sarah: Welcome to the shop. How can I help you today, young man?
Leo stood completely still while looking at his mother's tired but soft eyes.
Leo: I am looking for someone who lost something very precious long ago.
Sarah stopped cutting the flower stems as her hands began to shake slightly.
Sarah: I am sorry, sir... Do I know you from somewhere?
Leo pulled the old black passport slowly out of his warm jacket pocket.
He gently placed the small dark booklet onto the glass counter between them.
Sarah looked down at the familiar cover and let out a sudden sharp gasp.
Sarah: Oh my goodness... Where did you get this passport?
Leo: You put it in your jacket pocket before they took me away, Mom.
Sarah covered her mouth as tears immediately flooded her bright blue eyes.
Sarah: Leo? Is it really my sweet little boy standing here?
Leo: I promised you at the airport that I would find you one day.
Sarah ran around the wooden counter and threw her arms around her tall son.
She wept tears of pure joy against his shoulder while holding him tightly.
Sarah: My baby boy came back to me! I thought I lost you forever!
Leo: I never forgot your voice, Mom. Not for a single day.
Sarah: Richard told me you moved overseas and wanted nothing to do with me.
Leo: He lied to both of us so he could keep the family estate.
Sarah: I tried to reach you every year, but his lawyers turned me away.
Leo: The lie ends today, Mom. We are going to make things right.
They held each other for a long time as the afternoon sun shone brightly.
