Mark stepped out onto the lawn and saw the deep anger in his mother's eyes.
"What is going on out here?" Mark asked with concern.
"Your wife just disrespected me in front of your home!" Evelyn yelled.
Sarah shook her head while holding her baby tightly.
"She told me I do not belong in this family, Mark," Sarah replied.
Mark moved between his mother and his young wife.
"Mom, this has to stop today," Mark said firmly.
"You have been hostile to Sarah since the wedding day," he added.
Evelyn stared at her son with utter anger.
"She is destroying our family estate!" Evelyn screamed.
"She is my wife and the mother of my child," Mark countered.
Evelyn reached out suddenly toward the delicate pink carrier on the lawn table.
She grabbed the legal envelope that was tucked beside the baby bag.
It was the official deed paper and life insurance document Mark had updated earlier that morning.
"You changed the trust fund names without my permission!" Evelyn roared.
"It is my life insurance policy and my house!" Mark shouted back.
Evelyn stepped rapidly toward the decorative stone pit in the yard.
The pit contained burning outdoor logs for the cool evening hours.
"You broke the order of this family!" Evelyn yelled at the top of her lungs.
Sarah gasped in terror as Evelyn raised the documents high in the air.
"No! Stop!" Sarah screamed with all her strength.
Evelyn threw the important legal folder down toward the open fire pit in pure rage.
Sarah lunged forward across the stone patio with outstretched arms.
She was terrified that the flying spark would reach the nearby baby blanket on the bench.
"Give me my family's future back!" Sarah cried out frantically.
The burning paper scattered dangerous hot ash into the air.
Mark saw the immediate threat to his wife and child.
He moved faster than he ever had in his entire life.
He dove sideways across the stone edge to shield his family from the flames.
The sharp impact hit his shoulder as he landed on the green grass.
