The Key to the Pantry

The Secret Inside the Wall Revealed a Family's Hidden Past

Victoria shook her head firmly as she backed away toward the grand staircase near the main entrance.

Victoria: You do not understand what will happen to our entire estate if she comes out today!

Mark: I do not care about the house or the money when my child is suffering inside!

Mark stepped quickly across the hallway and grabbed Victoria's silver purse right out of her hands.

Victoria shrieked softly and lunged forward to grab her expensive bag back from her furious husband.

Victoria: Give that back to me right now because you have no right to search my things!

Mark unzipped the heavy leather bag and poured all of its contents out onto a glass table.

Lipstick tube, gold compact, and a set of old brass keys clattered loudly across the shining surface.

Mark scooped up the strange iron key that had a distinct small lion shape on its top ring.

Mark: This key belongs to the old locked storage pantry in the back of the service kitchen.

Victoria: If you open that door, our life as a wealthy family will be completely over forever!

Mark: Our real life ended the day you decided to commit such a cruel and evil act.

Mark grabbed Lily's warm small hand and walked briskly down the hallway toward the kitchen wing.

Victoria stood near the main staircase with her hands shaking as her eyes filled with deep fear.

She knew that her long plans to secure the vast trust fund were falling apart very fast.

Mark pushed open the heavy swing door that led into the quiet back pantry near the kitchen.

The storage room was stacked high with old wooden crates, extra linens, and dusty picture frames.

At the very back of the deep room stood a heavy reinforced oak door hidden behind shelves.

Mark moved two large wooden boxes out of the way with powerful shoves of his arm.

Mark: Clara, can you hear me through this heavy wooden door in the back pantry right now?

Voice Behind Wall: Yes Dad, I am right here on the other side of this lock!

Mark slid the iron key into the ancient keyhole and turned it with a hard metallic snap.
