Elena caught her breath slowly while holding the heavy leather car seat close.
She checked the side zipper and found the precious papers completely safe inside.
Tears of sheer relief pooled in her eyes as she knelt on the marble.
From high above, Victoria came marching down the grand staircase in a fury.
Her expensive navy silk gown flowed behind her as she stomped down the steps.
Victoria: Give that back to me right now, you insolent servant!
Elena stayed on her knees, wrapping her arms tightly around the baby seat.
Elena: You tried to destroy his future out of pure greed!
Victoria: Nobody will ever believe a poor maid over the mistress of this mansion!
Victoria reached out to snatch the leather handles away from Elena's firm grip.
Elena held on with all her strength, refusing to surrender the vital papers.
Victoria: Shut up! Not another word out of you ever again!
Suddenly, the massive front double doors swung open with a loud thud.
Arthur Harrison stepped into the grand foyer, holding his dark briefcase and coat.
He froze in complete shock as he looked at the wild scene before him.
His eyes darted from his breathless maid on the floor to his angry wife.
Arthur: What is going on here right now?!
Victoria immediately changed her tone and put on a fake look of distress.
She patted her hair nervously and placed a soft hand over her chest.
Victoria: Oh darling, thank goodness you arrived home early to help me!
Arthur: Why is Elena crying on the floor with Leo's car seat?
Victoria: This maid was trying to steal expensive items from our home!
Elena raised her pointer finger and pointed directly at Victoria's face.
Elena: Sir, please! She dropped the baby's seat over the balcony on purpose!
Arthur stopped moving and stared at his wife with deep suspicion in his eyes.
He walked across the wide marble floor with long, furious strides toward them.
The tension inside the high grand hall became as cold as ice instantly.
