Marcus walked into the living room and placed his briefcase on the table.
The two police officers stood near the doorway to monitor Victoria closely.
Arthur handed the USB memory drive containing the security video to Marcus.
Marcus plugged the drive into his portable laptop to review the file.
The officers watched the screen carefully as the video played from the start.
Officer Miller: This clear video shows intentional reckless endangerment of a minor.
Victoria: That video is edited and does not show the full truth!
Officer Miller: Ma'am, please stay quiet while we finish reviewing the footage.
Marcus opened a second document file from his secure corporate database.
Marcus: Arthur, we also found suspicious bank transactions under Victoria's name yesterday.
Arthur: What kind of bank transactions are you talking about, Marcus?
Marcus: She tried to transfer funds from Lily's inheritance trust account this morning.
Arthur turned his head slowly and stared at Victoria in disbelief.
Arthur: You tried to steal my daughter's biological mother's inheritance money?
Victoria: I am her stepmother, I have rights to manage her estate!
Marcus: You do not have any legal signature authority over that trust account.
Arthur: That money was set aside for Lily's college education and future!
Victoria: You have millions, Arthur, she did not need all of that money!
Officer Miller: Ma'am, attempting unauthorized bank transfers is a serious federal offense.
Victoria backed up against the marble pillar while shaking her head nervously.
Victoria: I was just moving money around to pay for household expenses!
Marcus: You attempted to move two hundred thousand dollars to an offshore account.
Arthur took a deep breath and looked down at his brave little daughter.
Lily was sitting quietly on the couch holding her teddy bear tightly.
Arthur: She wanted to take the money and leave the country, didn't she?
Marcus: That is exactly what it looks like based on these wire logs.
Victoria: Arthur, please, we can work this out without the police involved!
Arthur: You lost any chance of mercy when you put Lily in danger.
Officer Miller stepped forward and pulled out a pair of metal handcuffs.
Officer Miller: Victoria Vance, you are under arrest for attempted grand larceny and endangerment.
