Marcus answered his personal mobile phone on the third loud ring with a deep calm voice.
Marcus: Hello Elena, why are you calling me during your regular daytime shift?
Elena: Marcus I need your help right now because something terrible just happened at the house.
Elena explained the entire chaotic scene by the pool in short desperate sentences.
Marcus listened quietly without interrupting her until she finished speaking about the video camera.
Marcus: Mrs. Miller told Mr. Miller that you tried to drown the little boy?
Elena: Yes Marcus! But you know I love little Liam like he was my own family!
Marcus: I know how dedicated you are to your job Elena, I never doubted you once.
Elena: Can you check the live cloud storage drive from your security mobile phone app?
Marcus went quiet on the line while his heavy boots stomped across his apartment floor.
He opened the security company application on his tablet computer to check the Dallas account.
Marcus: The camera feed for the pool zone is currently marked as active and recording.
Elena: Can you see the video clip from two o'clock this afternoon on the server?
Marcus clicked his computer screen while navigating through the timestamp records of the system.
Marcus: Wait a minute Elena, the main wire for that camera unit was unplugged manually.
Elena felt her heart sink down into her stomach with sudden fear and disappointment.
Elena: Did Victoria figure out a way to turn off the recording system before pushing it?
Marcus: No wait, the outdoor backup memory card inside the camera housing records independently anyway.
Marcus explained that every camera stored a hard copy on an internal micro SD card.
Even if the main server wire was unplugged the physical memory card kept recording locally.
Elena realized the physical memory card was still sitting inside the camera near the hedge.
She needed to retrieve that small plastic chip before anyone else noticed its presence.
Elena: Marcus can you come to the estate boundary fence right now to help me get it?
Marcus: I am already getting into my car Elena, stay hidden in the bushes until I arrive.
