Thousands of feet in the air, a private jet glided smooth.
Mark sat in a leather chair staring at his work tablet.
He opened his smart home security application to check home.
The live video feed from his kitchen loaded on screen quickly.
Mark watched his new wife looming right over his young son.
His jaw dropped as he heard Brenda shouting at Leo.
Brenda: Drink this right now or face the consequences!
Mark zoomed in on the small cup held in Brenda's hand.
Mark: What is she trying to force him to take?
He remembered his son was completely healthy when he left home.
Mark felt a cold wave of fear wash through his chest.
Mark: She knows Leo has no prescription medicine today.
On the screen, Leo was sobbing hysterically behind his small hands.
Leo: Dad said no! Please let me go!
Mark saw Brenda shake the cup close to the boy's face.
Brenda: Your dad is not here to save you now!
Mark felt his heart pounding like a heavy drum in his chest.
He unbuckled his seatbelt instantly and stood up from his chair.
Mark: Pilot, come out here right this second!
The flight captain opened the cockpit door with a worried look.
Pilot: Is everything alright with your flight, Mr. Davis?
Mark held the glowing tablet screen out toward the airplane pilot.
Mark: Turn this plane around and go back right now!
Pilot: Sir, we are midway to our target city.
Mark: My son is in immediate danger at my house!
The pilot saw the raw panic in Mark's dark blue eyes.
Pilot: We will request immediate clearance from air control.
Mark paced back and forth inside the luxurious plane cabin.
Mark: Hurry up before she does something terrible!
He kept his eyes glued to the live streaming video feed.
Brenda was still cornering the frightened boy in the kitchen.
Brenda: Nobody will ever know what was in this glass.
Mark wiped cold sweat off his forehead with a trembling hand.
Mark: I will know, Brenda, and you will pay.
The private jet leaned heavily into a sharp turn high above.
