David: Have you completely lost your mind, Alexis?
Alexis: David, darling! You're home early from your Chicago flight!
David: Don't call me darling! Were you actually about to punch my wheelchair-bound mother in the face?!
Alexis: I was just trying to get her to cooperate! She's being completely stubborn about the trust documents!
David: What trust documents are you talking about?
Evelyn: She brought a notary into my bedroom this morning, David. She tried to force my thumbprint onto a legal transfer paper.
David: A transfer paper for what, Mother?
Evelyn: For the primary deed to this mansion and the offshore investment portfolio!
David's jaw clenched tightly as he stared down at Alexis, who took a nervous step back toward the marble fireplace.
David: You tried to coerce a woman with advanced paralysis into signing away her life estate?
Alexis: She doesn't need this forty-room estate anymore, David! She should be in a specialized nursing facility downtown!
Clara: Mrs. Evelyn loves her home, Alexis. You have no right to talk about her like she's trash!
Alexis: Shut your mouth, Clara! You are a paid maid who washes dishes and scrubs toilets!
David: Clara is a valued employee of this household, Alexis. You, on the other hand, are a guest who has officially overstayed her welcome.
Alexis: You can't throw me out! Our father's original will granted me living rights on this property until I turn thirty-five!
David: Living rights do not give you permission to assault my mother or forge financial records!
Alexis: I didn't forge anything! Ask the notary who was standing right here ten minutes ago!
Clara: The notary left the moment he heard your car drive up the marble driveway, Mr. David.
David: Is that true, Clara?
Clara: Yes, sir. He shoved his leather briefcase into his coat and ran out the side kitchen exit the second he saw your black sedan arrive.
Alexis: She's lying! She's just trying to curry favor with you so you'll give her a holiday bonus!
Evelyn: Clara isn't lying, David. She put herself between me and Alexis's fist when no one else in this house lifted a finger.
David turned back to Clara, noticing the slight red mark on her forearm where she had blocked Alexis's wild swing.
David: Are you injured, Clara?
Clara: I'm fine, Mr. Sterling. My arm just took a small scrape against the door frame.
David: Go grab the first-aid kit from the kitchen island, Clara. You've done more than enough today.
Clara: I'm not leaving Mrs. Evelyn's side until the police arrive, sir.
Alexis: Police?! You called the police on your own step-sister?!
David: I didn't call them yet, Alexis. But Arthur Vance, our chief corporate lawyer, is already on his way with the Dallas Sheriff's department.
Alexis went pale, her hands trembling as she adjusted the collar of her black shirt.
Alexis: You wouldn't put your own family name in the Dallas news headlines, David. The stock price for Sterling Enterprises would plummet twenty percent by tomorrow morning!
David: My family's integrity is worth more than any stock price, Alexis. And today, you showed your true colors.
