Victoria's entire demeanor changed in less than a second as she turned toward her wealthy husband.
Her cold sneer instantly melted away, replaced by instant tears and a soft, helpless expression.
She ran down the remaining stairs and threw her arms around Richard's expensive suit jacket.
"Oh, Richard, thank goodness you are home!" Victoria sobbed, faking a deep panic for his benefit.
"Your maid has completely lost her mind and just tried to attack me right on the stairs!"
Richard wrapped an arm around his wife while casting a furious glare at the quiet maid.
"Is this true, Elena?" Richard asked, his sharp voice filled with immediate, cold disbelief.
"You are a paid employee in this house, and you dare threaten my family like this?"
Elena took a deep breath, keeping her stance firm while keeping Leo safely behind her back.
"That is a lie, Mr. Sterling," Elena stated clearly, looking the powerful CEO dead in the eye.
"Your wife just tried to hurt Leo at the top of the marble staircase moments ago."
"If I had not run to catch him, your son would be badly hurt right now."
Richard blinked in surprise, looking down at his young son who was still crying softly nearby.
"Leo, what happened?" Richard asked, stepping forward while keeping a tight hold on his wife.
"She pushed me, Dad!" Leo cried out loudly, pointing a trembling finger directly at Victoria's face.
"I was playing with my car, and she told me accidents happen easily before she pushed me!"
Victoria gasped dramatically, pressing her delicate hand against her chest as if she were deeply wounded.
"Richard, you cannot possibly believe a confused child and a bitter maid over your loving wife!"
"Elena has been talking to the child for weeks, filling his young head with terrible lies!"
"She wants to ruin our marriage because she knows I plan to fire her for terrible work!"
The two police officers stepped forward into the room, watching the escalating family drama closely.
"Sir, we need to get to the bottom of this situation right away," the senior officer said.
"If a child was put in danger, this is a very serious legal matter for everyone."
Richard looked torn between the woman he loved and the small son he cherished dearly.
"Elena, you are finished in this house!" Richard yelled, pointing toward the large double entrance doors.
"Pack your belongings and get out before I have these officers arrest you for trespassing right now!"
Elena did not move an inch from her spot on the hard stone landing floor.
She knew that if she walked away today, little Leo would be left completely unprotected again.
"I am not going anywhere, Mr. Sterling," Elena said with absolute calm and total courage.
"Check the security cameras right now if you really want to know the truth about your wife."
