Arthur stared at the blinking red light of the security camera for a long moment.
The silence on the stone patio was so heavy that everyone could hear the wind.
Victoria stopped her fake crying immediately and smoothed down her expensive silk dress.
Her face went slightly pale under the dim outdoor patio lights hanging near the roof.
Victoria: Arthur, darling, that old camera has not worked for at least three years.
Victoria: Fire this crazy maid right now before she causes any more terrible trouble.
Elena took a step forward while shivering from the cold night breeze.
Elena: That camera was replaced last week by your head security supervisor.
Elena: I saw him test the wide lens with my own eyes on Tuesday morning.
Julian groaned loudly on the ground as he clutched his injured right leg tight.
Julian: Father... she rolled me toward the edge when you walked inside...
Julian: I felt her hands push the back of my chair very hard...
Arthur knelt down lower to wrap his warm woolen coat around his wet son.
Arthur: Do not speak right now, Julian, just save your energy and breathe.
Victoria laughed nervously and shook her head with a high plastic tone.
Victoria: He is confused because he nearly drowned in the dark water, Arthur!
Victoria: You know how weak his mind gets when he takes his strong medicine.
Elena looked directly into Arthur's cold stern eyes without blinking once.
Elena: Look at her hands and look at her green dress, sir.
Elena: Her dress is completely dry from top to bottom.
Elena: If she tried to save him, why is she not wet at all?
Arthur slowly raised his body up from the stone ground and faced Victoria.
His eyes traveled from her perfectly dry hair down to her dry silk shoes.
Arthur: You said you jumped to grab his chair before he fell in.
Victoria: I reached out... but I slipped on the wet tile and missed!
Victoria: The maid was standing right behind him when he tumbled down into the deep end!
Elena pointed at the deep tire marks visible on the slick stone ground near them.
Elena: The tire tracks show someone pushed the lock button down hard from behind.
Elena: My hands were full of clean towels inside the kitchen when I heard the loud scream.
Arthur reached into his deep pocket and pulled out his black smartphone.
Arthur: We will go to the security room inside the main house right now.
Victoria grabbed his arm with both hands and held on as tightly as she could.
Victoria: You cannot believe a cheap housemaid over the woman you love!
Victoria: I am going to be your daughter-in-law in less than two short months!
Arthur: That depends entirely on what is stored on that hard drive upstairs.
