The heavy front double doors opened with a loud creak sound.
David stepped into the mansion carrying his leather corporate binder.
He stopped dead in his tracks at the dramatic scene before him.
Lily was weeping loudly inside Maria's tight protective embrace.
Vanessa was hurrying down the remaining wooden stairs with fake concern.
David: What on earth is going on here right now?
Maria pointed an angry finger up toward the polished balcony staircase.
Maria: Sir, she deliberately tried to let your daughter fall!
David dropped his heavy binder onto the marble floor with impact.
His face turned completely pale as he looked at his daughter.
David: Is this true, Maria, what happened here?
Vanessa quickly rushed to David's side with fake tears forming.
Vanessa: It was a terrible accident, she slipped from my hands!
Maria: She opened the safety gate and let go on purpose!
Lily: Daddy, she told me I was in her way!
David looked at his wife with intense, growing disappointment.
He stepped away from Vanessa's reach with complete disgust.
David: You promised to care for my daughter like family!
Vanessa: David, you cannot trust the word of a simple maid!
Maria: I have worked for you for five years, Mr. Sterling.
Maria: I would never lie about the safety of little Lily.
David walked over and kneeled beside Maria and his young daughter.
He wrapped his arms tightly around Lily, wiping her hot tears.
David: Are you hurt anywhere, my brave sweet girl?
Lily: Maria caught me before I hit the ground hard.
David looked up at Maria with tears in his own eyes.
David: You saved my sweet daughter's life today, Maria.
Vanessa stomped her expensive foot on the hard marble floor.
Vanessa: You are taking her side over your own legal wife!
David: Stand away from us right now, Vanessa!
The room went entirely silent as David stood up straight.
He looked at Vanessa as if seeing her for the first time.
The sweet illusion of their happy marriage was completely shattered.
